I'm betting this won't come as a surprise to you, but Mondays are my least-favorite day of the week. They are usually full of hectic to-do lists, and feel so far away from the weekend. It was a struggle to find something redeeming about them—until G and I started a new tradition.
Instead of making Mondays worse by eating a mundane meal or searching the fridge (G and I affectionally refer to those evenings, where we raid the pantry for anything edible, as "scavenging nights"), we've made it a point to make the night a little more special by cooking something "fun" for dinner. Whether that's Geoffrey's chicken wings (my all-time favorite food) or a new recipe in our pizza oven, a boring dinner is out of the question. It's so simple, but dedicating Mondays as a night for an exciting meal has made a world of difference in setting the tone not only for that day, but for the rest of the week as well. I have to admit, I kind of love them now (we're obviously both very motivated by food).
The other part of the equation is TV. We don't watch TV every night, but no matter what, Mondays are reserved for a show we love. Right now, we're all about The Bachelorette (namely, Peter), but whatever the show, we pick one that we're both excited about and save it for Monday night.
The Bachelor is ending soon, so please share any shows that you're loving in the comments! I'd also love to hear: What are some of your favorite ways to kick the week off right?
