We hadn't been up to the Bay Area since the holidays, which is the longest I've ever gone between trips. It was long overdue and we enjoyed a few leisurely days staying with my parents, visiting wine country, buying roadside produce, celebrating my grandma's birthday (with this cake, naturally), hanging out with friends, sipping homegrown mint juleps, and even squeezing in a few hikes. It was about as quintessential of a summer break as you can get and we're heading back today feeling refreshed and happy.
