It's hard to believe that it's only been a little over a year since we were a team of three, but since launching our Shop last year, we've tripled in size (to the point we're even considering a new office space early next year...). At this point, we have nine full-time employees in the office, as well as interns. You've already met several of them through our team posts, but I wanted to formally introduce (and re-introduce) you to our entire team through a little questionnaire. Most of them work behind-the-scenes, but you'll be seeing a lot more of them around here—I hope you love them as much as we do! Meet the cupcakes and cashmere team:
Hometown: Mill Valley, California
Start date: April 2008
Where were you before cupcakes and cashmere? AOL and previously Condé Nast.
Favorite thing in your closet right now? Anything plaid—specifically our Adi coat (people literally stop me in the street to ask me where it's from!), and the two pairs of preppy pants I picked up from Zara recently.
What are your favorite plans you have this week? A friend's wedding!
Best thing about working with a big(ger) team now? This sounds kind of cheesy, but just being surrounded by an entire office of such intelligent, hard-working, fun, passionate, and sweet women is the most inspiring part. Bonus points that they all make my job infinitely easier and are experts in their fields.
If you could eat one dessert for the rest of your life, what would it be? This took me longer to answer, buuuut I just never tire of a good chocolate chip cookie.
On a Sunday afternoon, you'll find me... At a playground, a child's birthday party, or sipping wine with my family in our backyard.

The ideal way to spend a Saturday in L.A.? Riding my bike around the canyons in Malibu. Edit: This was written before the past weeks devastating fires. If you can help, please consider donating to the LAFD Foundation to support their efforts and those affected.
What's the last fun fact you learned? Cappuccino was named for its resemblance to the brown robes and white beards of the Capuchin monks. The monk who gave Cappuccino its name was made a saint.
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be? Kyoto
What's your go-to coffee order, and where? Cold brew from Go Get 'Em Tiger

Where were you before cupcakes and cashmere? Taking full advantage of the test kitchen at Food52 in New York
What do you do at cupcakes and cashmere? The answer to this question has changed so many times since I started (which is actually, aside from the people, my favorite part about the job!). These days, I oversee everything readers and customers see, which includes all blog posts, photoshoots, and the look and messaging of the Shop, social, and emails!
What are you listening to right now? I always listen to Spotify's Coffee Table Jazz playlist while working—I've probably heard the same hundred songs over a thousand times, but it feels meditative... at home there's a good chance I'm listening to this playlist, The Beatles, or a podcast!

Favorite thing in your closet right now? My Doen peasant dresses
If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you be? Skiing with friends in Reno!

I'm secretly really good at... Impressions and quoting movies and TV shows. Test me, I dare ya.
Favorite way to sweat? Running to explore a new city, and I'm a big fan of Pilates.
Where is the best place you have ever traveled to? Kangaroo Island in South Australia.
What's your favorite cupcakes and cashmere post and why? Emily's unexpected hostess gift. It’s short, it’s sweet (literally and figuratively) and it empowers readers to be the superheroes in their friends’ lives. I’ve taken the advice on multiple occasions and it always leads to an extremely grateful friend and personally, to a full heart. It's a shining example of why I've always loved cupcakes and cashmere.
Favorite store to shop from (besides the Shop, of course!)? I have a ShopBop addiction that cannot be tamed.
Hometown: Los Angeles and New York City
Start date: August 2017
Where were you before cupcakes and cashmere? I was the Director of Planning and Allocation for Planet Blue

Who is the first person you call when something exciting happens? It's a toss-up between my husband and my mama, but I usually tell my husband in person so I'd say my mother. She's my best friend!
Last show you binge-watched? The Resident (on Fox), I love a good medical drama!
Death row meal? New York pizza (from actual NYC!)
What's the last fun fact you learned? An estimated one million dogs in the U.S. have been named the primary beneficiary of their owners' wills.
Anything on your holiday wishlist yet? I've beaten my luggages to death this year traveling so much. I'd love a new luggage set! Also I'm in the market for a Drybar wand. They are amazing (hint, hint).
Hometown: St. Cloud, Minnesota (about an hour-ish away from Minneapolis)
Start date: July 2018
Where were you before cupcakes and cashmere? I was the Director of Marketing for an ecommerce start-up and working on my Master's degree from USC.
What do you do at cupcakes and cashmere? I have an awesome job because I get to do a pretty wide range of different things! Most importantly, I manage our overall marketing strategy (with Geoffrey) and most aspects of the Shop website that don't have to do with merchandising/operations/inventory management. I also take photos of Emily every week for blog posts, like this and this (you've probably seen me with a camera blocking my face if you watch the Shop's Instagram stories!).
Best thing about your hometown? Mom's Cinnamon Rolls at the Crossroads Mall, hands down, no contest.
What's your go-to wardrobe staple? I wear jeans five to six days per week. Trust me, I'm trying to break the habit.
What's your favorite podcast? NPR's How I Built This with Guy Raz or Revisionist History by Malcom Gladwell
Do you have a signature dish? I make a pretty mean guacamole.
After work you'll find me... In class, doing homework (with help from my dog Alexa), or at Santa Monica Brew Works with my boyfriend Alfie.
Hometown: Ventura, CA
Start date: November 2017
Where were you before cupcakes and cashmere? I was at Planet Blue for 7 years (with the rest of our Shop team!)

A big part of that includes managing all the brands and styles I see at trade shows (there are so many!), putting together our assortments on the site for future seasons, getting samples for the office and photoshoots, and merchandising the site!
What's your favorite holiday, and how do you celebrate? I love anything in the fall/winter, but Halloween wins. The scarier the better! I have such great memories of Halloween when I was young, so I love seeing kids enjoying the holiday, too!
When singing in the shower, I'm usually belting: Steely Dan, Pete Yorn, or Glen Campbell
East coast or west coast? This is like comparing apples to bowling balls—how can I pick just one!? Can I pull the Libra card here and say I can't choose?
What’s something you wish you knew how to cook? I wish I knew how to bake. I cook often, and I am confident in what I know how to make, as well as trying new things, but I will actually burn a house down trying to bake.
If I won the lottery, I'd immediately... start a trust for my nieces. I think everyone would give money to their family and to charities (and I would do both), but I would also probably buy property and Dodgers season tickets behind home plate.
Hometown: Los Angeles, I grew up all over the city!
Start date: October 2017
Where were you before cupcakes and cashmere? Planet Blue
What do you do at cupcakes and cashmere? No two days are the same, but I typically help with all general maintenance of the site, from shipping, to photoshoots, and customer service (if you've ever emailed in, chances are we've chatted!).
Where do you get your style inspiration from? Whatever music genre I'm into at the moment definitely influences my style choices. My current style icon is Anjelica Huston in all of her 70's glory.
Something my friends are surprised to learn about me is... I want at least five kids, and I would love to eventually be able to foster or adopt. I'm the oldest of six, and I love coming from a big family!
What's a phrase or word people always call you out for saying? My Dad always makes fun of me for saying "Oh, wow" in a slightly high pitched voice to everything. In fact, this joke has spiraled out of control, and now, when I say it, he says "Meow" in the same tone.
My song is: Feel it Still (Medasin Remix), by Portugal The Man (I could listen to this on repeat all day..and totally have.)
Hometown: To make it easy for people, I usually say Toronto, but the truth is I spent most of my childhood in the small town of Mount Albert, Ontario! Home of the legendary Sports Day and Spring Fair, natch.
Start date: October 2018
Where were you before cupcakes and cashmere? I've been working in digital marketing for studios here in LA, most recently at Disney and Fox.
What do you do at cupcakes and cashmere? Currently, I am managing email communications for the Shop, as well as contributing to the site's voice and marketing strategy.
Morning person or night owl? Neither—early to bed and late to rise would be my dream scenario! Even better if I can also spend most of the day in bed :)
On a Saturday afternoon, you'll find me... This is definitely somewhere where my life is dream vs. reality. I'd love to be a person who spends a Saturday afternoon on a hike or at the farmers' market, but the reality is I'd probably be hanging with my husband reading or playing video games with a cocktail.
Favorite way to sweat? Steam room, preferably sitting down (I am noticing a theme here...)
The one thing that keeps me be calm and balanced is... I am a venter, so a good phone call to my mom or close friends always helps me to rationalize and appreciate the little things.
What's the last gift you bought for yourself? Online shopping makes gifting yourself very easy, unfortunately! My most recent purchase was a new exercise bike, which is currently waiting to be built. (Maybe I'll try and build it this Saturday afternoon...)
Hometown: Rochester, NY

What do you do at cupcakes and cashmere? As the Editorial Intern, I assist Leslie with brainstorming and executing blog content. Additionally, I track social media and blog analytics and contribute to team projects when an extra hand is needed!
Every morning, without fail, I… read the news, have a cup of coffee, and follow my skincare routine.
What’s your go-to wardrobe staple? An oversized, black blazer. I recently bought this Aritzia version, which pairs perfectly with anything from vintage jeans and sneakers to a mini dress and top handle bag.
My favorite thing about living in L.A. is… that there is always something to do! From flea markets to book readings to early movie releases—my weekends are never boring.
Hometown: Downey, CA
Start date: July 2018
Where were you before cupcakes and cashmere? I was found on the street in Downey, CA this May, and lived in a shelter there for about a month. :( After failing to find my owner, Wags and Walks in L.A. came and rescued me. My new parents saw my picture online, then took me home on June 7th. My mom started taking me to work at cupcakes and cashmere at the end of July, and now I go with her to see all my office friends almost every day!
What do you do at cupcakes and cashmere? I'm the official welcome committee; I greet everyone at the door with a tail-wag and a big smile!
On a Saturday afternoon, you'll find me... Rolling around on my astroturf roof, on a walk in Santa Monica (and sniffing all the things), chewing on a cow's kneecap, sleeping under my favorite couch at home, or sitting at a brewery with my parents.
I really like to bark at 4:15 because... I'm 87.5% Siberian Husky, and it's time to pay attention to me! Hoooowwwlllllllllllll!!
What do you wish squirrels knew about you? I just want to play, promise!! Come down here!!!!!
