Thoughts on a senseless shooting.

There were a lot of really special moments from this week: Making Valentines with Sloan for school (I got very into it), giving her a pink pedicure on request, sneaking in a lunch date with G for French food and wine, and a long overdue catch-up with a friend. But there were some lows as well.

I try not to get too political here, but as a parent, it's hard not to feel both terrified and helpless when you hear about yet another senseless shooting. And like the 17 other school shootings that have already taken place in the United States in 2018 (by mid-February, no less), thoughts and prayers are important, but they're not enough. I've been following and donating to Everytown, a movement in support of commonsense gun policies in an attempt to reduce gun violence. It's a small step towards feeling both informed and empowered in such a scary time and knowing that we can all do our part in advocating for something that affects us all.

So here's to putting out positive energy, reaching out to those who are struggling, hugging your loved ones, and having a wonderful weekend. x
