The first thing I ask our editorial intern Katharine when she walks into the office each morning is, “Where did you get that?” She has a great eye for style and is inevitably wearing something I have to have, most often in one of three colors: black, cream, or army green. Her phone case was one of the first things to catch my eye when she started working with us earlier this summer and is one of her only accessories to show some color, decorated with pink and yellow donkey piñatas. When she told me it was from Sonix, a Los Angeles-based tech designer that now also makes sunglasses and portable chargers, it took me all of ten seconds to hone in on this cactus case.
My favorite part about it is that the transparent back reveals my phone’s color (I have a rose-gold iPhone 6s) with a chic, minimalist design that still shows a little bit of my personality and a touch of California desert (its namesake is a boutique hotel in Palm Springs). It’s such a small thing, but it gives me a kick every time I pull my phone out of my purse.
