Sometimes the least-glamorous purchases are also the most impactful. A year ago, I published my list of the 20 items that will change your life most dramatically on a daily basis—and it quickly became one of our most-viewed post of all time. I can't even tell you how many DMs I received from readers who'd discovered the life-changing impact of really incredible sheets, or ample underwear (I stock up on these no-show thongs). Over break, I revisited the original post as I made small purchases and tweaks for my own home—and realized I had several additions to make. Here are the practical items worth buying that will change your life most dramatically this new year (or at the very least, shave a few minutes off your routine):
A matching workout set: Exercising always feels easier when there's a great outfit involved. I've been loving this set (top and bottom) for evening walks and Peloton rides. Having cute sneakers doesn't hurt, either.
Statement slides: I rarely have time to put on makeup before dropping Sloan off at school, let along put together a full look—but I've found that having a great pair of slides can make me feel pulled-together, even when I'm in jeans and a sweatshirt. I recently splurged on these Prada slides (which were closer to 75% off when I purchased them), but have also been eyeing these.
Apple air pods: As much as I love my wireless headphones for walks, I've been pulling out my Apple air pods more and more for in-office conference calls and phone calls with my mom when I'm home. The clarity and sound-quality for conversations is unparalleled.
Go-to jeans: For years, I rarely wore jeans—but it was only because I hadn't yet found a staple I loved. Now, I have several I turn to, but I love this pair from AGOLDE for their classic cut that goes with nearly everything in my closet.
Sunglasses that go with anything: I have several pairs of sunglasses I love, but nine times out of ten, I'll pull out my favorite pair of Ray-Bans. Having a go-to, that goes with nearly everything, simply makes it easier to get out the door and on with my day.
Farmers market tote: I used to grab any tote before heading out the door, but there's something to be said for having a cute bag for groceries and farmers' markets. I love this option for bigger hauls, and this French market bag for smaller lifts.
Quality shampoo: I've mentioned this a ton over the past few months, but investing in a good shampoo has really helped my hair. In the past, I've been notoriously cheap when it comes to shampoo and conditioner, but the second I got over that hump, I noticed a huge difference in the health of my hair.
Really good set of knives: If you spend on anything in your kitchen, it should be on a great set of knives. Chances are you'll use them every day, and as long as you take care of them, they'll last you forever.
No-show socks that don't slip: After Geoffrey purchased a set of no-show socks he loves, I felt inspired to do the same. As small as it sounds, like a good strapless bra, it really does make a difference having reliable no-show socks that don't slip!
