One of the most popular posts I wrote last year involved me trying on an assortment of different blazers and reviewing each one. But since fancy-ish jackets feel about as far as possible from what I want to wear these days, I thought I'd shift my focus to something a bit more palatable to kick off 2021: robes. I'm a big proponent of owning a robe that meets your needs—whether it's something you want to throw on as soon as you get out of bed, a lightweight version to wear while applying makeup, or something to slip into after a shower. Here are the six I tried and my thoughts on which I liked best:

Softness: 8/10
Fit: 10/10
Special details: Pastel rainbow piping along the neckline, pockets, and sleeves.
Thoughts: This feels like a classic hotel robe, but with really special details. It's soft, feels durable, and is the quintessential item you want anytime the temperatures dip. The colorful little pops are so playful and pretty, but not in a way that you'd get sick of them. Just a purely delightful robe and my favorite of all that I tried!
Overall score: 10/10

Softness: 10/10
Fit: 6/10
Special details: Cropped sleeves make the robe feel super cozy, but without the annoyance of them potentially dunking into whatever you're doing.
Thoughts: So, so soft (like, baby bunny soft)—ideal for cuddling up on cold mornings, but not necessarily as an after-the-shower kinda thing since I can't imagine it would work around water. Not sure how it would hold up over time, but if you're looking for a fleece blanket-esque vibe, this is the one for you!

Softness: 8/10
Fit: 10/10
Special details: I like the low V-neck that's flattering without being too revealing.
Thoughts: This is definitely better for spring/summer since it feels more like a crisp t-shirt than a plush robe. But these types of robes are actually harder to find—those that you want to live in when it's hot out, but still feel comfortable and put-together in.
Overall score: 9/10

I'm wearing size '0/1'

I'm wearing size '0/1'

Softness: 10/10
Fit: 8/10
Special details: This is the coolest, vintage sweatshirt, but in robe form.
Thoughts: Obviously this is a massive investment and one that I made last April and am so glad that I did. It falls in all the right places and is cozy enough for chillier months, but still light for summer, meaning it works year-round.

Softness: 9/10
Fit: 7/10
Special details: The waffle knit has such a good feel—it's soft and starchy, in the best way.
Thoughts: This is Jess's favorite robe and one that she raves about constantly so I obviously had to try it! It's a fantastic robe—versatile, chic and comfortable. My only issues involved fit: I wish it were juuuust a touch longer (it hits me a few inches above the knee) and the slightly bulky pockets and tie meant it wasn't as flattering on me as I would have hoped.

I'm wearing size 'Small'

Softness: 9/10
Fit: 9/10
Special details: Pockets that are positioned toward the front, so it doesn't add bulk on the sides.
Thoughts: A good, classic robe! There wasn't anything particularly exciting to call out with this one, but it's still solid, nonetheless. I imagine it would wick water nicely after a bath, but would also be fluffy enough to want to change into as soon as you finish work.
Overall score: 9/10
