How I Get Ready for a Date Night with Geoffrey

I know I'm far from alone when I share that, as a parent, it's more important than ever to make date nights feel truly special. One of my secrets for creating a memorable evening out with G starts when we're still home. While I share plenty of photos after I've gotten ready, I'm not sure that I've ever fully shared the behind-the-scenes, outside of makeup tutorials, of what goes into preparing for a date night with G.

My mom and I have always been attached at the hip, but she's always been militant about getting ready alone. Growing up, I remember that she would disappear into her bedroom before a party and emerge an hour or so later looking stunning—the grand reveal was one of my favorite things (as well as my dad's). Geoffrey takes care of Sloan before date nights so I can bathe, select my dress, and apply makeup to allow for a similar reveal, and a quiet moment before our evening plans, whether dinner with friends or a concert.

Tonight, we're heading to iHeartRadio's Jingle Ball thanks to the exclusive access I get just for being a Capital One cardholder. (I have the Savor card, which gives me 4% cashback on dining and entertainment purchases). Tonight, along with other cardholders who purchased the Capital One Access pass to the event, we’ll get to check out a cardholder-only Artist Session, which includes a meet and greet and acoustic set with Normani before the main concert begins and I couldn't be more excited.

As Geoffrey listened to the headliners with Sloan, I put on a facemask and drew myself a bath, then took my time getting ready. I gave myself an at-home manicure and applied a festive eyeshadow, while G mixed me a martini which he greeted me with in the kitchen. I threw together a quick cheese and charcuterie board (cheese for me, charcuterie board for G), before heading out the door!

So excited for the concert tonight and to experience even more upcoming Capital One access perks (which you can see here!). I personally can’t wait to snag a hard-to-get restaurant reservation in the OpenTable app.
