Wood Table Brush: I bought this table brush set in a boutique in Ojai for myself and have since purchased two more as gifts I love it so much. For as mundane a task as it is sweeping crumbs off tables and counters, I can't tell you how much satisfaction I get any time I pull it out. It's pretty enough to leave in plain sight and I even find myself not using our placemats more often just to have an excuse to use it.

The Island by Adrian McKinty: I'd taken a short breather from thriller books and was pleasantly surprised by how quickly things escalated shortly after beginning The Island, which came highly recommended from one of my most trustworthy friends. I'm only about a third of the way through, but after a vacation goes wrong and leaves a family running for their lives, I think you'll also find yourself staying up entirely too late trying to find out what ends up happening.

NATIVE Lilac & White Tea Bodywash: In September I went to a wedding in Lake Tahoe, and we stayed in the most incredible (and Instagram-worthy) treehouse Airbnb. This body wash was in the shower, and I was hooked after one use. It has a cozy floral scent that isn’t overwhelming, and it’s somehow both calming and refreshing at the same time. I immediately bought some the next time I went to Target.

Wallflower Chats Newsletter by Thao Thai: If you were a blog reader in 2020/21, you probably remember our incredibly talented guest writer Thao Thai. I’ve always been a massive fan of her writing, so when she launched her newsletter on Substack last month, Wallflower Chats, I hit the “subscribe” button in approximately three seconds. Thao’s newsletter will be a place where she writes about things she can’t stop thinking about, books (I can relate!!), motherhood, gender, race, and cultural myths. I’m loving her newsletter so far and I’m sure many of you will as well.

Our World September

COACH 'Leah' Platform Loafers: Over the past few weeks I have spent HOURS crossing referencing Instagram, TikTok, Google, Pinterest, and just about every shoe website I could think of to find the perfect chunky loafer for fall. The goal was to find a platform style loafer that was versatile enough to wear with both skirts and jeans. The COACH 'Leah' loafers in black ended up checking all the boxes. While I’m not particularly into COACH as a brand, I knew from past experiences that they made comfortable shoes. As a New Yorker, this is a requirement! The shoe is extremely well-made and in person, they look even better than the pictures. I especially love that the material is on the shinier side, so it looks like a cross between traditional leather and patent leather, making it perfect for dressing up or down. If you’re thinking about getting a pair of these, make sure to go up at least half a size. I originally ordered a size 8 (my normal size), and I ended up exchanging them for an 8.5.

MANGO Striped Knit Sweater: I’ve been on the search for a striped sweater for quite some time now. And, while I found some great options, none of them fit quite right. That is, until I found this blue and cream striped sweater from MANGO. The three-quarter zip is super chic, the material is insanely soft, and the fit is perfectly oversized (size down if you don’t want the oversized look). I have already worn this sweater five times, and fall has only just begun!

C&C Lynne Chain Link Bracelet: I love a good bracelet stack, and the Lynne has finally completed my arm party. I’m a big fan of the mixed metal look because I think it adds an additional level of depth to jewelry stacking. And, while my ring stack is composed of mixed metals, my bracelet stack was lacking. I had previously been wearing two silver toned bracelets, and thus was on the hunt for a gold bracelet to complete the look. The Lynne was the perfect addition. It is classic, pretty, and easy to wear. I literally haven’t taken it off since starting at cupcakes and cashmere.

Houston's French Dip: After I watched this video with Joshua Weissman making a French dip, I couldn’t go another day without eating one. You know when you see something on television and it looks so good that you have to order it right then and there? That was what happened to me, although the French dip I had in mind required a reservation a few days in advance. Houston's French dip is absolutely epic and needs to be on your next order when visiting. Their combination of homemade French roll with the insanely tender prime rib and salty au jus makes for an unforgettable French dip experience.

taking cara babies Sleep Training Course: The 4-month sleep regression hit us hard, and it was time for us (as a family) to be able to sleep through the night uninterrupted. Can’t speak highly enough about Cara’s program and the research/evidence based methods that she uses. Her videos are short and easy to get through, but provide so much peace as a new mom to a strong willed little girl. We are two weeks into the program so far, and she is sleeping through the night all on her own.

MyFitnessPal App: If you're like me and have always been intimated by counting calories and macros, and if these things just go completely over your head, this recommendation might be for you. I've never been one to keep a food log because it just felt like too much work. I finally decided to give the MyFitnessPal app a go, and it has truly changed my life. I love knowing what I'm eating and keeping a food diary has never seemed sustainable to me until now. For someone who is wanting to stay on top of their health journey, if you're not already monitoring your eating habits I really recommend that you try it!

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream: By now, I've mentioned First Aid Beauty so many times on my monthly picks that I do sound like a brand ambassador but I can't help it, they are just that good! I began developing some eczema on my eyes and elbows recently and it was seriously starting to get to me. I read that the Ultra Repair Cream had a reputation for helping with eczema, so I wanted to check it out for myself and I am shocked to say that it worked! My eyes are back to normal and my elbows, which were cracked and almost bleeding have completely healed over! If you're struggling with eczema you might want to try this cream out because it did wonders for me.
