H&M Borg-collared Denim Jacket: I've been trying to do a much better job of consistently sharing links to what I wear in Instagram Stories, and this denim jacket that I bought one size up in black was the most purchased thing I've shared in the last month. It's the ideal piece to throw on over yoga pants with a top knot on the weekend. Paired with sunglasses in the same color, it adds an immediate effortlessly cool vibe.
Elemis Pro-Collagen Cream (currently on sale!): I've tried countless face creams, but it's not often that I finish one and rush out to buy it again. This one glides on beautifully, creating a perfect base for makeup and also makes my skin feel extra hydrated and plumped up at night. I noticed a change in my skin, particularly around the crow's feet near my eyes, after about two weeks and there's an evenness that wasn't there before.
Taylor Swift Midnights: OBVIOUSLY you knew that I was going to include Midnights in this month's roundup!! While Taylor Swift's 10th studio album (wow) maybe doesn't live up to some of its predecessors in the minds of many, I personally love it. I find it to be the *perfect* album to put on during a dinner party or while you're stuck in traffic. There are a handful of bops that keep things lively ("Anti-Hero," "Lavender Haze," "Karma," "Bejeweled," "Paris") and slower tracks that encourage decompression from a hectic day and contemplation of deeper thoughts ("Maroon," "Snow on the Beach," "Question...?," "Labyrinth," "Mastermind," "Would've, Could've, Should've"). Overall, I am an extremely satisfied customer, but I look forward to seeing where Taylor might go without Jack Antonoff or Aaron Dessner on her next album.
P.S. I literally never do this, but I might actually buy the "Lavender Edition" of Midnights from Target this time because I heard from a trusted source that the bonus track "Hits Different" is amazing!
Nike Air Max Bliss Sneakers: There comes a time in every Minnesotan's life when she realizes that summer is over and preparing for colder weather is inevitable. In September and October, I was on the hunt for a pair of non-white sneakers that I could wear anywhere without worrying about them getting dirty immediately. I ordered the Air Max Bliss sneakers in grey/navy from Nike and haven't stopped wearing them since they arrived, even around the house, because it makes me feel more productive.
Bondi Sands Self Tanning Foam: Nothing boosts my mood quite like a fresh tan. Since this is virtually impossible to achieve naturally in New York in the fall and winter months, I make sure to always have Bondi Sands Self Tanning Foam (in the shade Ultra Dark) on hand. I’ve tested a few different tanners over the years, but this brand has given me the most natural results with easy application. One of the main selling points is that this tanner has a relatively light scent. Yes, there is an unavoidable, slightly chemical “self-tanner” smell after initial application, but this immediately goes away after showering—unlike other brands where I’ve noticed the smell linger on my skin for days. If you’re looking for the perfect glow without the sun, I highly recommend this self-tanner!
ULTRAIDEAS Women's Faux Fur Slide Slippers: These slippers have been an essential part of my work-from-home uniform, and one of my favorite Amazon purchases ever. I originally bought a similar slipper from another brand and loved the style, but the build of the shoe made them feel more like indoor-only slippers. The sole of this particular brand is on the thicker side, making them durable enough to wear outside to grab the mail or take my dog out. For less than $20, these slippers are a steal.
Nike Daybreak Sneakers: I like to think I have minimalistic/classic style, so I was shocked when I grabbed these colorful sneakers off the table at Nordstrom. I don’t know if it was the dull rainy weather that made me crave color, but whatever it was, I am thrilled because I absolutely adore these shoes. While not quite the Sambas I set out for that day (they are sold out everywhere!) they have a similar low profile, but much better support. I have already worn these on plenty of 3+ mile walks and they are insanely comfortable–I honestly can’t believe I ever wore any other sneaker. And as for style, this color and composition has a very vintage feel which looks great with jeans and a tee as well as my predominantly neutral wardrobe.
Aesop Ginger Flight Therapy: I had always been curious about this product that sits on my bathroom counter (my husband uses this as his daily subtle scent). And while it does smell really good–it has scent notes of ginger root, lavender and geranium–it is actually meant to be used in moments of stress to promote calm and relaxation. On a particularly stressful day, I decided to give this oil a try. I’m not sure if it was the scent or the ritual of applying and taking a few deep breaths, but I noticed I was much more zen and mindful after application. I now bring it with me on-the-go and use it before situations that cause me stress, such as flying which is actually its intended use.
Monopoly Deal: My friend group is obsessed with this card game, Monopoly Deal. It’s everything we love about Monopoly but takes a fraction of the time to play. It has strategy, money/property management, good and bad deals, and all of the competitive components that we love about the board game. Since it’s a card game, it’s easy to carry around to play at a coffee shop or on a plane too.
Cowgirl Hat Incense Holder: I’ve been looking for a small and unique incense holder for a long time and came across this cowgirl hat one in a little coffee shop in Spokane, WA. I found the same one on Urban Outfitters and thought I would share it! It’s the perfect size and nod to the western trend going on without the full commitment to leather cowgirl boots. It’s also a cute addition to a styled shelf or coffee table but is practical to use if you like to burn incense. I like the rust color because it hides the brown incense stain around the hole well.
The Lord of The Rings: The Rings of Power on Amazon Prime: I'm trying not to be biased when suggesting this show, but I would like to recommend it to anyone that's been hesitant about watching it. If you're like me and are a HUGE fan of the original LOTR trilogy, you might have stayed away from watching The Rings of Power so as to protect yourself from the disappointment of a prequel that has no way of living up to its predecessor. I finally decided it was worth a shot, and I ended up binging the whole show in three days. If you're not a mega fan of LOTR and would like to get into the world, this is the perfect show to do it. Nothing's too complicated, the characters are very well written, and everything has been updated to "fit the times" so to say. As a fan, I definitely have my nitpicks and my critiques and I don't agree with some ways in which they chose to spin the mythology, but I'm choosing to treat the show as its own thing rather than a direct prequel to how all of these things came about. I would give it a 7.5/10!
Anti-Skid Grippy Yoga Socks: I have been very into high socks as of late. Maybe it's the socks and slides trend mixed in with the nostalgia of leg warmers, but getting these mid-length grip socks for my pilates class has been a game changer! They come in a pack of two and are really inexpensive. I love the colors that I got and would say they run a little bit smaller than the description states (which turns out better for me because I am a size 7). If you have no need for them in a yoga or pilates context, I still wear them around the house so as not to skid across the hall which I've done on multiple occasions!
