Hi Cut Plungey Bathing Suit: Further proof that Instagram ads work. I'd seen this bathing suit countless times and as part of a last-minute online shopping haul, bought one for our trip to Paris. The concept is simple: it's basically like shapewear for the pool, with a tie-up back that can be cinched at the waist. I was skeptical, but cautiously optimistic, and let me just say it's easily the most flattering one-piece I've ever owned. It's surprisingly comfortable and can be made to be tighter, sit higher, cover more of your chest, etc. based on your preferences, which I appreciate.
The Bear (on Hulu): It's not often you come across a TV series boasting a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, but in this case, it's well earned. G and I binged the entire series in one night, something we haven't done since before Sloan was born, but it was worth feeling extra groggy the next morning. It follows a world-renowned chef, who's left a career in fine dining, to run his family-owned sandwich shop. Everything from the dynamics among the chefs, to such a gritty, real life portrayal of a restaurant kitchen, and the food they prepare that you'd do anything to taste, is impactful, incredibly shot, and has you rooting for just about everyone by the end.
Lomi Composter: I purchased this in late 2021, but it was backordered and didn’t arrive until this past February. Composting is not a new trend and it is something I’ve been wanting to do for a while, but was looking for a solution that fit our space and didn’t require an outdoor placement. There are a handful of similar appliances, but after five months of daily use, I’m very happy with our purchase. The ease, functionality, and efficiency of turning food and (most) compostable materials into usable dirt is amazing. There is zero smell, it’s not loud, and you can simply run it while you’re sleeping, so it’s ready for use the next day. Does everyone need a composter? No, you can drop scraps in a bag under your sink or use an outdoor model, but if you’re looking for an alternative, this is an option to consider.
Ben & Jerry's "Milk" & Cookies Non-Dairy Ice Cream: I converted to be mostly dairy-free a few years ago when I realized what a large culprit it was in a lot of my acne woes. I've tried a lot of dairy-free ice cream in my day, everything from the absolutely terrible, to the genuinely pretty good. For the very first time last month, I finally tried a dairy-free ice cream that is every bit as good as the real thing. Maybe it's because this is the first time I've ever tried an ice cream made from sunflower butter (????), but man this stuff is GOOD. What I didn't know until visiting their website is that Ben & Jerry's makes a non-dairy version of my favorite ice cream of all time–Mint Chocolate Cookie–which I will now be hunting down relentlessly until I find it. If you're in the Minneapolis/St.Paul area and you know where I can find it, DM me!!
Il Bisonte Leather Crossbody Bag: While my best friend was in town right before my birthday, we stumbled across a quiet boutique on a rainy day after a long afternoon of shopping. As we turned to leave, a light blue bag caught my eye. It was the only one in the store, and as I picked it up to try it on to get a sense of the size, Jess said: "ummmm... that bag is YOUR COLOR." I had been casually looking for a new purse for a while–something small with a long crossbody strap, with an outside pocket. After admiring the size for a few minutes and the unique (and very fun) oval shape, I realized that my birthday being a few days away was the perfect excuse to splurge on it. A month later, this bag still makes me smile, and I think might be my favorite I've ever owned.
The Pout-Pout Fish by Deborah Diesen: I think this might be my most sophisticated recommendation yet, The Pout-Pout Fish children’s book by Deborah Diesen. The only book that I have ever memorized from start to finish because I read it multiple times a day to my baby. There is no other book on the shelf that makes her eyes light up more. The Pout-Pout Fish is truly a lovely read. I have even read it to my friend’s kids too, and everyone seems to love it just as much as I do…I mean, my baby does. I received this book as a gift and had no idea the amount of joy and laughter that was in store for us when I read it to her. I have since bought four other iterations of the book, which I can tell you are all not as good as the original. “Blub, bluuub, bluuuuuub,” such a fun one to use with voices, if you are as theatrical as I am.
White Terry Cloth Bathrobe: I was on a deep hunt for the perfect, soft, not-too-bulky, white, terry cloth bathrobe that was under $50. Most of the name brand bathrobes are over $100 after taxes and shipping, and I really wanted to stay within my budget. I found this Amazon brand bathrobe that looked like the perfect length and the sleeves weren’t so big that they would dip into everything while I was wearing it. I received it in the mail recently and I couldn’t be happier about this purchase! It is a definite glow up from my hot pink bathrobe that I got in high school from Kohls, and it makes me feel like I am staying at a luxurious hotel every time I take a bath or shower. It has two deep pockets which are perfect for a phone (or a portable breast pump if you are a nursing mom!). Nowadays, these are sacred “me-moments” so any small detail to make this time for myself that much better, I will take!
No. 04 Bois de Balincourt Perfume Oil by Maison Louis Marie: I finally caved in and bought the No.04 perfume oil by MLM. Obviously working here at C&C I get to see what everyone is ordering on the Shop, and although the perfume oil is popular, I never quite thought to get myself one until now. I was in the market for a new scent and I loved how small the bottle was to try it out. What I didn't quite expect was to fall in love with the scent as much as I have! It lasts all day and a little does go a long way. I've gotten a ton of compliments on it and I love just smelling it on myself throughout the day. If you want to smell a little spicy and a little sweet, I highly recommend trying this one for yourself!
