One of my favorite desserts in the whole wide world are without a doubt Slutty Brownies. They will forever be near and dear to my heart since I made the original 7 years ago! This year I gave them a valentine’s day spin because why not?! So what is a Slutty Brownie? The bottom layer is a sugar cookie dough, made here with Valentine’s Day M&M’s! The middle layer is made of Red Velvet Oreos, which are actually quite delicious (and I am never buying them ever again because I will eat all of them in one sitting). And the top layer is the best brownie batter to ever grace my kitchen! All the measurements are perfected for a 9x9 baking pan, but if you use a 9x13, you’ll need to adjust baking time so keep your eyes on it. Whip this one up for all your friends / family / loved ones this coming V-Day and I promise everyone will love you!
Valentine’s Day Red White and Pink Slutty Brownies
For the Brownie Layer:
10 tablespoon unsalted butter
1 1/4 cups white sugar
3/4 cup cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 large eggs
1/2 cup flour
For the Oreo Layer:
1 package of Red Velvet Oreos
For the Cookie Dough Layer:
1/2 cup unsalted butter (at room temp)
1 cup white sugar
1 1/4 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 1/4 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup valentine’s day M&M’s
How to make it:
For the Brownie layer:
In a medium sauce pan, melt the butter over medium-high heat. Add the sugar and cocoa powder once the butter is melted. Whisk to combine and remove from heat. Add the salt, vanilla, and eggs and continuously whisk until the eggs are combined. Add the flour and continue to mix. Set batter aside.
For the Cookie Dough layer:
Cream together the butter and sugar in a mixer. Add the egg and vanilla, making sure to scrape down the sides of the mixing bowl. Add the flour, salt, baking soda, and baking powder and mix on low until everything is incorporated. Fold in the M&M’s. Set dough aside.
Pre-heat the oven to 350° F.
Line the bottom of a 9x9 baking pan with tin foil and then spray the tin foil with a layer of baking spray.
Layer the cookie dough on the bottom of a 9x9 baking pan, pressing down to form the bottom of the slutty brownies.
Layer as many oreos that will fit on top of the cookie dough. No need to overlap. One single layer will do.
Pour the brownie batter on top of the oreo layer and make sure it's evenly layers on top.
Bake for 35 to 40 minutes. Test with a knife to see if the center is done. If the knife comes out clean, let the brownies rest for at least 2 hours before serving. If the knife comes out with batter still on it, allow the brownies to bake about 5 minutes more. Let rest for at least 2 hours before serving.
Optional: Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out hearts to serve!
