I have an interesting relationship with taffy. It's not one of my favorite candies (like this or this), but there's something about the chewy confections that makes me unbelievably nostalgic. It reminds me of old fashioned candy shops in San Francisco and the delight of uncovering the flavors inside each wax wrapper. This past weekend we decided to make a batch ourselves (from this recipe). It was labor intensive (your arms will get a serious workout) and frustrating (sticky, scalding candy isn't exactly easy to work with), but ultimately homemade taffy is worth the effort.
