One of my favorite L.A. eateries, Sycamore Kitchen, always has an intoxicating array of baked goods on display when you walk in. I'm partial to their scones and cookies, but as of late, it's their gingerbread stout loaf that I've found to be most appealing. Last week I attempted to make my own at home, based on this Gramercy Tavern recipe , for the sheer convenience of having an entire loaf to myself since one slice is never enough. It's everything you'd want from a seasonal cake - it's spicy and deliciously fragrant - and would make for a wonderful gift to give during the holidays.
