For the past few years, we've gone apple picking to kick off the arrival of fall. Sadly, this year's fall came and went and we never made it out to the orchard. In an effort to re-create the experience, we decided to make the apple cider donuts we always pick up on our way back home. I didn't grow up having these (apparently they're more common on the east coast), but they've quickly become one of my favorite treats. They're spicy and sweet and taste even better when eaten in my pajamas on a lazy Saturday morning.
