When I first came across San Francisco-based illustrator Gretchen Röehrs's Instagram (@groehrs), it felt like a match made in heaven. Her food-meets-fashion sketches are so creative and fun—from turning oyster shells into mini-dresses to twisting a banana peel into a jumpsuit. I was thrilled when she agreed to turn some of my favorite looks from the Shop and past outfit posts into edible creations using my favorite 'food,' candy. Take a look at her imaginative interpretations and don't forget to check out her new book, available here!
Some of my favorite pieces from the Cupcakes and Cashmere collection are the striped dresses we typically release each season as a throw-on-and-go staple. It can be paired with a leather jacket or worn alone (the strategically placed thickness of the stripes makes it flattering!). I love Gretchen's take, using one of my favorite candies, licorice allsorts, to capture the pink-hued stripes in this dress. Shop the dress here.
I've always been partial to a black-grounded floral, which is why I was particularly excited to see Gretchen's take on this rose-embroidered dress. I love how she used jelly raspberries and blackberries (which feel so nostalgic to me!) to mirror the pattern. Shop the dress here (similar here).
This is one of the first dresses we launched with on the Shop. While it's no longer available, I still love the bright floral motif that's picked up in the hem of the dress, and that Gretchen captured in the metallic-wrapped chocolates and Parisian gummies in her sketch.
