The perfect dress has to hit on a couple of different points to warrant a place in my wardrobe: it must be neutral enough to dress up or down, be worn with ease, and lastly, have a special detail that sets it apart. The Cupcakes and Cashmere Laurel chiffon dress fits the bill through and through: it’s made from a sheer, ivory-colored material that’s cut in a flowy shape for maximum comfort and the drop waist balances out the flirty hemline. Before making the Laurel, my biggest complaint with see-through items was trying to find what to wear underneath. I was adamant that every sheer piece in the Cupcakes and Cashmere collection came with its own bespoke slip made to match in length and color and we even put a tiny metal snap on each slip strap so that it never gets separated from its dress. I topped the Laurel dress with the Presidio military jacket from my collection. In order to make the jacket look tailored to my body, I cinched in the waist by pulling the drawstrings sewn on the inside.
