Last week, I attended a 'Holiday High Tea' with girlfriends, with a very specific dress code: velvet. Normally, I would be thrilled about this—I've always been a fan of the fabric for its luxe festive feel, especially this time of year. The only problem is that I'd just worn my favorite velvet piece, a flattering burgundy jumpsuit, to another event with the exact same group of friends and didn't want to repeat my outfit. Luckily, I was able to add a few details that transformed the look. I threw a grosgrain bow in my hair, and lightened the outfit for daytime with a white blazer and a favorite pair of Chanel heels.
