Every few seasons, an "it" silhouette of pant cycles through—from skinny jeans, to "boyfriend" jeans, to the current most in-demand style: cropped and flared (which I'm a huge fan of, as you've probably noticed from my Weekday Wardrobes). Since most of my cropped pants are denim or black, I designed this pair to fill a hole in my own collection: a playful mix of both. I can throw this easy, breezy pair on with minimal effort (i.e., a white top and slides) and feel sophisticated. They're also incredibly comfortable—the fabric is so lightweight, I can wear them on a hot day without overheating. It almost feels like I'm wearing pajamas out of the house (which I've been known, on occasion, to do), but they also work for the office with a black pump and blouse.
Anytime I'm unsure of what to wear, I'll usually opt for a striped shirt thrown over jeans. It's a classic combination that always works and can take on a variety of updates - a pair of sexy stilettos, a masculine belt, or a baseball cap on particularly troublesome hair days. But ...read more
