The only trends that I embraced in the '80s were oversized shirts with leggings, some neon moments, side ponies, and slap bracelets. When I look back at that decade, I'm rarely inspired to recreate that aesthetic, whether in the form of intensely colored eyeshadow and blush, to bedazzled denim and leg warmers. But for the first time since I was six, I've been finding myself more open to some of the more wearable trends, namely oversized blazers. Gone are the exaggerated shoulder pads from decades past and, when done in this season's most popular, pattern (plaid!) it feels both classic and current. I kept the rest of the look streamlined and simple with a romantic blouse, leather leggings, and pointy-toe mules for a speaker series I attended last week.
