Everyone has one: A favorite, go-anywhere pair of jeans. But finding the one is just about the most personal purchase you can make, since it comes down to a particular algorithm of size, fit, silhouette, color, and brand. And people tend to be vocal about their jeans—whether you're either a 'jeans girl' or would rather leave them to the cowboys. Here are the stories behind our team's favorites:

How many jeans do you own? Probably about 5, which is a lot less since I KonMari-ed my closet.
Do you love/hate/tolerate jeans? I wear jeans a fair amount, but I would never label myself a 'jeans' girl. I feel best in high-waisted, vintage-inspired denim since despite my taller-than-average height (nearly 5'7), I have quite short legs.
What's your biggest fit issue? It's all about the ratio. I have a hard time finding jeans that are a bit roomier in the thighs and tighter in the waist.
Favorite type of jeans: High-waisted with little stretch.
Favorite pair: AGOLDE Jamie High-Rise.
Tell me about them: They look like something you scored at a flea market, with minimal distressing and that hug you in all the right places.

How many jeans do you own? Five: A Madewell wide-legged crop, Madewell distressed black skinny jeans, Current / Elliot skinny jeans, Rag & Bone 70s wide-leg flare (similar here), MOTHER Skinny Jeans. And technically a few Wranglers from my cattle drive, if that counts... Jeans are 90% of what I wear!
Do you love/hate/tolerate jeans? Love. I wear jeans six out of seven days a week... they're just easy to move around in, which is usually my priority during the day!
What's your biggest fit issue? I used to get annoyed that my jeans would sag at the butt, but realized I was just buying jeans with way too much elasticity (more than 2%).
Favorite type of jeans: Skinny High-Rise
Favorite pair: MOTHER High-Rise Skinny Jeans with a Drop-Hem (similar, but distressed, here)
Tell me about them: These jeans are the first thing I ever bought from the Shop when it launched almost 1.5 years ago, and I love this pair in particular for a million reasons: the uneven hem, the high-rise that makes me feel all tucked in, substantial material, the white button detail, and amount of stretch are all A+. I probably wear these jeans four days a week...

How many jeans do you own? Can I plead the Fifth? I probably wear about six regularly.
Do you love/hate/tolerate jeans? I have a love/hate relationship with jeans. I find them to be the easiest pieces in my closet to throw on, but also find them constricting and slightly uncomfortable (especially because I prefer vintage denim, which doesn't have much stretch!).
Favorite type of jeans: High rise, straight leg that hit right at my ankles.
Favorite pair: My vintage dark blue denim Levi's 501s.
Tell me about them: These are the only pair of vintage denim that I haven't had to alter—they fit me perfectly (or at least perfectly by my standards) from the moment I put them on. Even the length was ideal, which is super rare!

How many jeans do you own? 4: My Good American Good Cuts (similar here), Madewell High Waist Black Skinny Jeans, Madewell Vintage Jeans, and my Madewell Cali Demi Boot.
Do you love/hate/tolerate jeans? I know I'm in a minority here, but I actually hate jeans. Don't get me wrong, I think they look amazing on other people, but I consistently reach for a mini skirt or dress for my every day look.
What's your biggest fit issue? I'm only 5'1, and I'm convinced jeans were made for tall people. I consistently have to buy crops just to get them to be a normal length on me. I also exclusively buy jeans with some elasticity. If they're too stiff, they're difficult to get on over my hips and then are waaay too big at my waist.
Favorite type of jeans: High rise crops that hit right above my ankles
Favorite pair: My Good American Good Cuts.
Tell me about them: These light-wash, cropped jeans are beyond comfortable and fit with my style. Khloe Kardashian definitely perfected the flattering jean, and I couldn't love them more.

How many jeans do you own? I am an almost reformed jean hoarder, but I still have more jeans that I need! Out of those, I have about 5 that I rotate regularly.
Do you love/hate/tolerate jeans? I obviously have a jeans problem, stemming from my time working at Jean Machine (RIP) at the peak of the Seven jeans phenomenon. When you give a teenager commission and a 20% off discount, shopping addictions are born.
What's your biggest fit issue? Jeans that gap in the back! I now see a tailor to alter my jeans or try and find a jean with a lot of stretch to avoid that issue.
Favorite type of jeans: I am not a jean loyalist, and have a lot of brands (new and vintage) in my stockpile. AGOLDE is a recent favorite, they have a vintage look and fit at a great price point.
Favorite pair: AGDOLE Riley
Tell me about them: This old AGOLDE pair is comfortable, and the cropped leg looks great with sneakers or ankle boots with socks.

How many jeans do you own? Right now, seven. But I just went through a recent jeans purge, so it's usually more. My denim wardrobe is mostly made up of Madewell jeans, with Abercrombie, Joe's, and Rag & Bone thrown in there.
Do you love/hate/tolerate jeans? LOVE. I wear jeans almost every day. I hate shopping for them though, because it's basically the only thing I buy that has to be PERFECT.
What's your biggest fit issue? Gapping in the back. Since I switched to wearing only high-waisted jeans, 90% of jeans now gap in the back. Sometimes I can get away with it, but most of the time I end up passing on an otherwise perfect pair of jeans because there's 2+ inches of space in the back. (Levi's, I'm looking at you!)
Favorite type of jeans: I live in high-rise skinny jeans. I love the look of rigid, vintage-style denim, like Jess's, but I can't find a pair that fits me correctly (and I've tried A LOT). I have one pair of soft vintage-style jeans from Abercrombie that I would buy a bunch more of if they were still available (similar to these).
Favorite pair: All-time is Madewell's 10" High-Rise Skinny Jeans, but right now it's The Hi (Rise) Honey Ankle by Joe's.
Tell me about them: I love Madewell jeans because they fit perfectly and are so much cheaper than most "designer" jeans. I just bought these Joe's recently, though, because Madewell just doesn't have enough styles in the 10" (only one of them is magic for me; I've tried maybe 3 other styles and they're not the same). These Joe's fit perfectly, and they don't gap in the back!! Recently I've tried Mother, AG, Frame, and Paige, and each pair that I loved otherwise gapped in the back. These "Honey" jeans eliminate the problem, and hold their shape really well after an initial stretch-out of about 1/2 a size (I bought the smaller of my two "usual" sizes).

How many jeans do you own? 27
Do you love/hate/tolerate jeans? LOVE
Favorite type of jeans: Jeans with a little stretch and I'm very into a cropped flare.
Favorite pair: I love all of my jeans but these jeans from Revice, the Venus Crops, are a real winner
Tell me about them: They are so comfortable, flattering and super funky. I like to pair them with a plain tee since there is already a lot going on. The most surprising thing is that they are super inexpensive too.

How many jeans do you own? Eleven, but the notable mentions are my MOTHER boyfriend jeans (mentioned below), Rag & Bone skinny jeans, JBRAND dark wash jeans,  Anthropologie Pilcro patchwork jeans (similar here), and Carmar black skinny jeans. (Clearly I'm not particularly loyal to any one brand; it's all based on fit!)
Do you love/hate/tolerate jeans? Love! Slipping on a pair of jeans never fails to make me feel effortlessly put-together. I have jeans for all occasions, whether I'm going to class or the office, or heading to the beach on the weekend.
What's your biggest fit issue? My biggest struggle is finding jeans that go past my ankle; sometimes jeans look unintentionally cropped on me. Also, maximum stretch is an absolute must—jeans that are too stiff simply don't fit.
Favorite type of jeans: Stretchy, high-waisted, full length(!), skinny.
Favorite pair: MOTHER Dazzler Shift Your Treat Or Mine?
Tell me about them: It's not the least bit surprising that I got my favorite pair of jeans ever from the Shop, given that Emily has fantastic taste in choosing quality, eye-catching denim. These jeans are no longer available on the Shop, but go with almost everything, from a classic black sweater and booties, to a cropped white tank and pale pink sneakers
