Our Favorite Outfits We Wore in April
The cupcakes and cashmere team has committed to a new series highlighting our favorite outfits we wore the previous month. Save them, pin them, or scroll past them (if they're not your style) – we're also grateful for the excuse to change out of our endless cycle of sweatsuits.
I live in high-waisted pants, but the majority of mine are cropped as full-length versions often feel way too serious. This Madewell pair (that’s a way more affordable version of The Frankie Shop ones I’d been considering) is the best of both worlds - cinched at the waist, with just enough voluminous pleating, in a soft fabric that’s the ideal length that can be worn with simple flats or a blocky sandal. I paired mine with a linen Rachel Pally top for an easy, neutral outfit that I’d be happy wearing any day of the week.
Top: Rachel Pally

The weather in Los Angeles has been swinging from 90° and sunny to 55° and windy, which has led to some real styling whiplash. On a cooler morning, I threw on my favorite cardigan as a top and some baggier, oversized jeans with crisp white sneakers to compliment it. I loved the semi-shapeless, comfort-forward look as it was, but the reason this is my favorite outfit of the month is due to my army green jacket (or sleeping bag, as I refer to it) that's the best investment I've made in years.
Sweater: Jenni Kayne
Jeans: Mango
Sneakers: Common Projects
Jacket: Stand Studio
Sunglasses: Ray Ban
**I did not wear these shoes outside of the house in April in Minnesota. I did wear them (and this outfit) to manifest spring to the Midwest, because it has been 40 degrees and cloudy (and snowy...) almost the entire month. Most of my warm weather clothes are still in moving boxes because I don't need them yet. This is my boyfriend's shirt. My pants are wrinkled because they were randomly thrown into a box of books I just unpacked and I can't find my steamer. This is my life right now!!
Shirt: Hugo Boss (similar)
Pants: Gap (similar)
Necklace: The Katherine
Shoes: Old cupcakes and cashmere
I can't get enough of these purple pants, and although I typically pair them with a white or neutral top, this particular day in April I was reaaally loving spring colors. I styled them with this cute yellow gingham top, and was pleasantly surprised to see how well the pastel colors complemented each other. After throwing on my signature chunky shoes and a denim jacket, the outfit was complete! I can't wait to mix and match more colors for the rest of spring and summer.
Jacket: Hand-me-down from older cousin 🕺
Top: Old Urban Outfitters
Pants: Urban Outfitters (similar here!)
Boots: Doc Martens
Jayme gave birth and went on maternity leave *very soon* after sharing this photo, so she didn't get the chance to share why this was her favorite outfit, but she looks so feminine and adorable that we don't even need an explanation!
Dress: Mango
Shoes: Badgley Mischka
This outfit was incredibly easy to put together and I felt so great in it. Nothing like a simple leather jacket and heels to elevate a tank dress into something a little more fun for a night out!
