One benefit of the multiple postponed and rescheduled weddings we have this year is the opportunity to see so many of my friends and loved ones in a short span of time. One downside? Needing to dress up for six formal events...which can get quite expensive.
Since I'm unwilling to purchase all new items for each occasion but I also don't want to be a predictable outfit repeater, I've highlighted three dresses from my closet – one that's new and two that are older – and how I'm planning on styling them to keep the looks feeling fresh and distinct.
Here's what I'm working with:
A beaded or pearl clutch: Santi Imitation Pearl Clutch ($196)
A structured bag in a fun color: Mini Purse 8 Other Reasons ($139)
A total wildcard that would steal the show: Mercedes Salazar's Flowera Oasis Handbag ($132)
A classic black dress: MISHA Collection Casanda Sweetheart Neck Cocktail Dress ($97)
A fun, colorful dress or one in a bold pattern: Farm Rio Sunny Day Asymmetric Maxi Dress ($230)
Something a bit more slinky and sexy: Andrea Iyamah Reni Midi Dress ($225)
A comfortable pair of black heels: Sam Edelman Kia Ankle Strap Sandals ($140)
Subtle metallic heels: BP. Larrissa Sandal ($50)
Nude heels that go with everything: Jeffrey Campbell Fluxx Sandals ($130)
A pearl drop: The Cristina ($78)
A statement earring: SHASHI Theodora Earrings ($86)
Classic elevated hoops: The Tina ($88)
LOOK 1: Love the way these accessories make an ordinary dress feel way more fun. I'd add a punchy pink lip similar to the mauve from the bag to tie it all together.
LOOK 2: With a winged liner and wavy hair, this would strike the perfect balance between casual and classy.
LOOK 3: Ideal for the black tie wedding I have coming up! Simple, sophisticated, and the pops of gold keep it elevated. I'd slick my hair back into a low bun and wear minimal makeup to complete the look.
LOOK 1: This combination screams California, which makes it perfect for an upcoming family friend's wedding I have at the Beverly Hills Hotel.
LOOK 2: Hello, destination wedding! I love that this hits on a tropical vibe without feeling too shticky.
LOOK 3: Grounding this dress with timeless accessories can easily transform it into something more muted with a touch of flair. Add an updo and you're all set!
LOOK 1: I can really envision this with a smoky metallic eye and my hair half up, half down. Plus, I'm very into this rust-green color combo.
LOOK 2: The elegant accessories make for a perfect pairing with the flirty cutout in the dress. Adding a bold lip would take it up a notch.
LOOK 3: Unexpected with tons of vibrant colors. This feels like it hits just the right tone for a rehearsal dinner.
