In the past, cocktail rings elicited images of old women, dripping in gaudy jewelry while they sipped martinis. Though today's jewels are no less embellished, if worn correctly, they can add an expected pop of glamour to any outfit. Several ground rules to keep in mind: 1. Skip the Cubic Zirconia: nobody will be fooled by your 4 carat rock 2. Focus on one main gem: over-the-top embellishment will only appear ostentatious 3.
