There are a lot of gourmet, farm-to-table restaurants in the city that I love. But sometimes it's more fun to skip the lines in lieu of something simple. Recently we tried Du-par's for pancakes after they were deemed the "best pancakes in L.A." (consensus: the buttermilk variety was certainly deserving of the title) followed by Rae's the next weekend, a greasy spoon diner that's perhaps best known for its nostalgia versus great food. But regardless, it's a nice change of pace and a reminder of the eclectic breakfast options readily available.
