Business in Blue

It's not that I'm opposed to outfits that are business-like, but when they start to veer too conservative, I make little tweaks to keep them from feeling stuffy. At my first office job, I didn't understand that kind of a balance, so I ended up in mismatched suits that never quite worked. Since I never added any personal touches, things ended up looking dated and unflattering. Undoing the last button of a blouse (I finally sprung for this jeweled one now that it's on sale) and tying it in a knot helps balance out a coordinating pencil skirt and trench. A swingy ponytail and a bright pink lip makes pointy toe pumps feel fresh and playful. I no longer work in a typical office environment, but the thought of business attire no longer intimidates me.
