Faux Earthenware DIY

Publish date:

Pottery has been one of my quiet obsessions for a long time. It's one of the first details I'm drawn to when I enter a new space and I'm always on the look out for beautiful pieces. The only problem is how surprisingly pricey certain items can be, so we took a stab at creating chic earthenware pieces that look amazing, for a fraction of the price.

What you'll need:

1. Terracotta pots
2. Acrylic paint in cream white
3. Acrylic paint in black
4. Two paint brushes (one large and one small)
5.  Thick gloss glaze

1. Tape the bottom of the pots and paint them white, making sure to go slightly inside the upper lip.

2. Once the white paint has dried, make a very watery mix of black paint and flick the brush at the pot, creating a splattered effect.

3. Cover over any splatters that you don't like with white paint.

4. After the paint has fully dried, coat the entire surface with the glossy varnish.

5. Add plants and display!
