When I first became enamored with Pinterest, I bookmarked dozens of DIY projects that I intended to do, only to realize later that they required a tremendous amount of skill and time. I've since become a bit more discerning with the projects I tackle, with the main criteria revolving around simplicity and chicness (the goal is to not have it look like it's DIY). So with that in mind, I decided to glitz up a pair of plain salt and pepper shakers with a couple of easy steps.
Step 1: Take a piece of tape and wrap it around the lower part of the shaker.
Step 2: Wrap a piece of the gold leafing around the tape. Using your fingernail, scrape off the gold leafing that isn't attached to the tape.
Step 3: Cut a second piece of tape in half horizontally, so the width is half the size of the tape on the bottom.
Step 4: Wrap the smaller piece of tape above the larger strip, leaving a sliver of white. Repeat step 2 and apply the gold leafing.
