Putting together our gallery wall was one of my favorite projects. I loved scouring flea markets for paintings and incorporating some of my favorite photographs and prints, but the process started out a little bumpy because we didn’t have a single focus. While our wall certainly works as it stands now, if I was to do it over again, I'd choose a theme. Here are three ideas for a cohesive gallery wall.
I like the idea of a bright wall that's tied together with unifying colors. In this case, it's pink and turquoise that livens up the deep navy color on our couch and pulls in the embroidery on our throw pillows.
I was a competitive swimmer in my teens, so water has a calming effect on me. For this gallery wall, I mixed and matched different images of swimming pools, placid lakes and crashing ocean waves.
Because we have colorful accents in our home (namely bright pillows and a jewel-toned couch), I think a minimal black and white gallery could look chic. I love the mixture of black and gray tones, and the different mediums like photographs, graphic prints, and abstract paintings.
