I'm not one of those girls who's obsessive about her skincare routine. That being said, I do follow a routine that I try to stick to, more often than not. Here's a glimpse at my skincare schedule.
Every morning:In the shower, I wash my face with Bliss Foaming Face Wash. I first discovered it while in a New York hotel and the scent was so appealing that I thought it would encourage me to wash my face more. I switch up the kind of body wash I use almost every time - it makes for a more fun and customizable experience. The three in my shower right now are Jo Malone's 'Sage Wood & Sea Salt', Bobbi Brown's 'Beach' and Le Labo 'Vetiver,' which I steal from G. After my shower, I dab off my face with a black towel (just in case there's some remnant mascara/eyeliner from the night before) and use Aveeno Ultra Calming Face Wipes on my eyes. I was recently sent a jar of La Mer Moisturizing Cream, something I wouldn't have necessarily bought for myself, and after using it for a month, I fully understand the hype. It makes my skin feel hydrated without feeling greasy and sinks in immediately. I use Kiehl's Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado around my eyes and then apply Lucas' Paw Paw Ointment to my lips while I put on the rest of my makeup.
Every night: I've been trying to figure out a better system for getting me to wash my face each night. For some reason, it's always such a chore and pretty much the last thing I want to do at the end of the day. But I've been doing it earlier in the night (right after I put Sloan down to sleep) and that's been working a little better. I use Shiseido's Foaming Cleanser, which I've been using on and off since college since it smells great, feels super luxurious on my skin, and doesn't leave my skin feeling stripped. I follow that with a few drops of face oil - either by Rodin or BeautyCounter (the Jasmine). I use La Mer Illuminating Eye Gel, which I'm pretty sure is meant for daytime, but I also like how my skin looks when I use it at night. I apply Kiehl's Creme de Corps lotion to my hands and arms and then finish with Lucas' Paw Paw Ointment on my lips, around my nose (that's where I get driest) and on my elbows.
Every other day: I would exfoliate my face several times a day if it was allowed (and wouldn't tear my skin apart). I love the way it feels and notice a big difference when I do it regularly. About every other day I'll use Philosophy's Microdelivery Exfoliating Wash, which is on the gentler side and really improves my skin's brightness and tone.
Twice a week: Two times a week I make sure to use a mud mask in the morning, which I'll put on before my shower while I eat breakfast. I love the Glam Glow treatment - it gets a little tingly and after only a few minutes, it makes my skin seriously soft.
Once a week: I exfoliate my whole body with the Caudalie Divine Scrub in the shower. The fragrance is incredible and it preps my skin nicely to apply a Tan Towel after I'm completely dry. I feel so much better when I have a little color on my skin and it's the most natural-looking self-tanning product I've found. I use two of the Half Body towelettes, let it dry for a few minutes, and then put on loose clothes. Even though my skin gets a bit parched without any lotion or serum after showering, I find that my color goes on a lot better if I apply it without any emollients underneath.
If I have a breakout: My main rule is to try and avoid the blemish altogether, but for those times when I need a little extra help, I use my aesthetician's product, BFF Spot Treatment. I dab on a tiny bit at night and by morning, my blemishes have reduced in size and are less red. I only use it once a day though, or else it's replaced by super dry skin.
If I have a big event to prep for: If I need to look particularly great for a big event, I'll take a steam shower in the morning and follow it up with the Radiance Renewal Mask by Ren. It makes my skin dewy and I'll follow that with La Mer Moisturizing Cream. I also make sure to drink more water than usual to hydrate my skin from the inside out.
