If there's one beauty step I dread, it's blowing out and styling my hair. I've gone through phases of painstakingly drying it smooth (a process that can literally take hours), adding curls that feel dated, and piling on product to camouflage shortcuts taken while styling. But I've finally found a technique that works for me, and my lifestyle.
The most dramatic change I've implemented is dividing the process into two days: On day one, I rough blow-dry my hair, then straighten it (you can see what that looks like here and here). The next day, once my hair has had time to fully cool, I go back over it and add waves with my straightener. Because this technique involves quite a bit of heat-styling, from both my blow-dryer and straightener, I've prioritized products that protect my color-treated hair. Recently, I've been loving the new Pantene's Pro-V Intense Rescue Shots (which were just released in the States last month—they've been in Brazil for years!). Each single-dose tube contains strengthening vitamins and lipids that target and repair damaged hair, and protect it to keep my hair looking glossy and healthy. To use the Pantene's Pro-V Intense Rescue Shots, I simply shampoo my hair twice, to completely remove all grease and build-up. While still in the shower, I add the entire contents of one 'shot' from root to tip for 30 seconds, then rinse it out for another 30 seconds and continue with my new styling routine. Just use weekly instead of your normal conditioner. Watch the video above for my full tutorial!
