Here's How Bachelor Contestants Get Camera-Ready

I asked my favorite Bachelor contestants for their beauty tips.

I came to The Bachelor relatively late—during the finale of Ben Higgins' show. But if you watch my Insta-Stories, you already know I didn't waste a moment diving straight into Jojo Fletcher's season, and every season (and spin-off, Winter Games included...) after that. Aside from it making my Mondays infinitely more enjoyable, I find that some of my favorite beauty tips and inspiration come from watching the girls on the show, whether a particularly good smokey eye or killer beachy waves. In honor of tonight's finale of The Bachelor, I reached out to some of my favorite contestants for their go-to beauty tips:

Bachelor Beauty Tips_Rachel Lindsay

What are some of your favorite tips and products for making your eye makeup pop?

Let me preface this answer by noting that I have big eyes so they are always popping but I live by two things for eye makeup to enhance my eyes: I love the Kylie Jenner black eyeliner and false eyelashes. My go-to lashes are from Sephora (plush or flare). If you want to go with a less expensive option, I like the Ardell brand from CVS.

Favorite highlighter?

Bobbi Brown Highlighting Powder in 'Sunrise Glow.'

What's your holy grail high-end makeup ($$$) product & low-end makeup (drugstore) product?

Honestly, I use a lot of drugstore makeup products: I like Revlon eyeliner and coverup. As for higher end, I like Hourglass Seamless Finish Foundation Stick, Makeup Forever Brow Gel, Nars Blush, and Stila Huge Extreme Lash Mascara.

What’s the one beauty product you couldn’t live without on The Bachelor?

Are you ready for this... Vaseline lol. I literally live by Vaseline. I still use it today—I use it on my lips and as a moisturizer when I am ashy on my knees and hands. During the winter, I use it on my face and feet.

What are your tips for styling effortless waves and keeping long hair healthy?

For my beachy/effortless waves, I will let my hair air-dry then pop in curls using a 1 1/4" barrel curling iron, curling in different directions in the back and always away from my face in the front. I always finish up with a dry texture spray for some volume and to add that “beachy grit”. I try my best to not apply too much heat to my hair if possible, and allowing my hair to air-dry saves it from that additional heat. I've also learned to not “over wash” my hair (dry shampoo, you are a life saver) and keep up with trims in order to keep my long hair healthy!

Go-to brow products?

Luckily for me, I have been blessed with very full eyebrows! Most of the time, all I do for my brows is use a brow brush, spray it with hairspray, and brush my brows up and into place. For those little areas that need some fill, I will use a small, fine-tip brow pencil. The Maybelline EyeStudio Brow Precise Micro Pencil is one that I have found to work great and is very affordable!

What's your holy grail high-end makeup ($$$) product & low-end makeup (drugstore) product?

I have always been a firm believer that the key to flawless glowing skin begins with your skin preparation. No matter how expensive a beauty product may be, if your skin isn't healthy, it won't apply how you would like. So for me, I invest my money in skin care. Products I swear by are the IS Clinical Active Serum and the Dr. Dennis Gross Extra Strength Daily Peel Pads. They help to keep my skin clear, even and radiant, so when I do wear an expensive foundation (i.e. La Mer Soft Fluid Foundation or Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation), I don't have to pile it on and instead use it for select spot coverage, so a little goes a long way for me. Day to day, I try to skip the foundation all together and instead wear the Laura Mercier Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer—it’s one of my all-time favorites! I find that some of my favorite lip pencils and lipsticks come from the drugstore. One of my go-to warm nude lip liners is ‘Coffee’ by NYX cosmetics & for a fun summer pop, L'Oreal also has a lipstick shade called ‘Magnetic Coral’ that I absolutely love!

What’s the one beauty product you couldn’t live without on The Bachelor?

Concealer! Given the environment you are thrown into—lack of sleep, drinking, stress, 25+ women with their emotions running wild—your body and skin take a beating and you can definitely expect darker under-eye circles and an occasional stress breakout to occur. Gotta be prepared to camouflage those puppies up.

What size barrel curling iron do you use?

When I’m feeling ambitious and I actually fully dry my hair, I use a 1 1/2" barrel and leave about an inch of hair out on the end, then I load up on Oribe Texturizing Spray... it smells so good! If I’m in a rush, I’ll dry the top of my hair and add some Ouai Wave Spray to add volume and texture to the bottom portion.

What’s your go-to highlighter and the lipstick you wore on your date with Arie?

I go between two highlighters depending on my look. I love Becca Cosmetics but use it sparingly! My favorite is Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Moonstone. I also love anything Tarte and am currently using their Tarteist PRO Glow Highlight & Contour Palette. It’s easier to travel with because it has highlighter and contouring in one palette—best of both worlds. On my date I wore Charlotte Tillbury’s Pillow Talk lipstick mixed with Fresh’s Sugar Lip Creme in 'Petal.'

What's your holy grail high-end makeup ($$$) product & low-end makeup (drugstore) product?

Concealer... always concealer. I bounce around but I love Tarte concealer. Shape tape is my favorite! Low-end would have to be my Ardell Demi Wispie Lashes! All my friends get lash extensions but my eyes get red and itchy so I go straight CVS strips. They make such a difference.

What’s the one beauty product you couldn’t live without on The Bachelor?

No one wants chapped lips on The Bachelor, especially in the presence of the Kissing Bandit. Let’s be real—we didn’t kiss, but I did keep my lips hydrated with Coleen Rothschild Ultimate Lip Balm. It will change your world... her whole skincare line is amazing.

What skincare products and tips do you use for healthy, clear skin?

I have a routine that I stick to pretty religiously! My best advice is to wash your face every night before you go to sleep. I use a gentle cleanser (Cetaphil, Dermalogica, IS Clinical are a few of my favs), I then use Dr. Dennis Gross Daily Peel Pads followed by Shani Darden’s Retinol Reform and a gentle moisturizer!

What’s your go-to foundation / base for your face? It always looks flawless!

Thank you! I have tried a few different foundations that I really like. Some of my favs are Tarte’s Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Foundation, La Mer Fluid Long Wear Foundation, and for something lighter I will use a C.C. Cream from SuperGoop!

What's your holy grail high-end makeup ($$$) product & low-end makeup (drugstore) product?

Holy grail high-end makeup is La Mer Soft Fluid Long Wear Foundation and my low-end makeup (drugstore) product is Burt’s Bee’s chapstick!!

What’s the one beauty product you couldn’t live without on The Bachelor?

I would say lipstick! It made all the difference being on camera. If you were tired, throw on some bright lipstick and go!

Bachelor Beauty Tips_BECCA KUFRIN--

I was the least beauty-savvy out of all the girls on the show. I went to them all the time for makeup & hair advice/help. But here are my tips!

What's your go-to nude lipstick?

Revlon Ultra HD Matte in 'Seduction'.

What are your tips for styling shoulder-length hair?

I typically shower at night to let my hair dry overnight—that way it has a bit more volume. My hair is slightly wavy, so every morning I’ll curl it with a 1” curler starting from the root on down, but I don’t curl the end. I leave about an inch out at the bottom, otherwise my hair looks too “bouncy” at this length.

What's your holy grail high-end makeup ($$$) product & low-end makeup (drugstore) product?

I’m so frugal that I don’t like to spend a lot of money on makeup. High-end to me is my $29 bareMinerals Loose Matte Powder. But it’s so worth the money! My go-to, “affordable” product is my L’Oreal Voluminous Primer/Base for about $6.

What’s the one beauty product you couldn’t live without on The Bachelor?

I lived for my Becca Cosmetics Under Eye Brightening Concealer. Seriously, the lack of sleep made my bags stand out on a whole other level, so this product saved me. I also never wear fake eyelashes, so I needed my mascara primer to help with adding some volume and length.

What are your tips for glowing, clear skin?

Hydration is key for a glowing complexion. I try to drink as much water as I can throughout the day. I also limit sugars from my diet. As far as topically, I use pure oil-based products to keep my skin clear because I have combination skin (Laura Mercier's Rose Hip Oil or Fresh Beauty's Seabuckthorn Oil). If I am dealing with a breakout, I use the Boscia Luminizing Black Charcoal Mask at night to try to clear it up!

Go-to products for brows?

I use Anastasia Beverly Hills Medium Brow Definer because I find it easiest to shape and blend with its parallel lined tip.

We know you love pilates! What are your tips for beauty before / after working out?

Before I workout, I spritz Laura Mercier's Rose Water on my face. It keeps it hydrated before class or makes me feel refreshed after class.

What's your holy grail high-end makeup ($$$) product & low-end makeup (drugstore) product?

I am OBSESSED with Sisley's So Intense Fortifying Volumizing Mascara. I justify splurging on it because it last 4 to 6 months without drying out. It also has nourishing oils in it that are great for your lashes! For low-end, I really like the Burt's Bees Lip Sugar scrub! It is a natural product that really helps exfoliate your lips! I use The Burt's Bees new liquid foundation too (Shade Pecan). I use this foundation when I need light coverage while running errands!

What’s the one beauty product you couldn’t live without on The Bachelor?

I discovered how amazing setting spray is! We had really long days and nights on the show, and Urban Decay's Setting Spray kept my makeup from needing any touch ups! I wear it every time I wear makeup still!

Bachelor Beauty Tips_SEINNE FLEMING--

Do you have a signature scent? Or did you switch it up from date to date?

The scent I wore most on the show was Chloe Eau de Parfum. I also brought Angel by Thierry Mugler and Prada Candy and would wear those from time to time. Sometimes I'd even mix two of them to create a unique scent.

Your makeup always looks so natural but still beautiful - what are some of your go-tos? And what lip color do you use?

I always did the same eyeshadow (since it's not my strong suit). I loved wearing Naked highlighter and would place a little on my cheekbones, inner eyes, and tip of my nose. I always wore a MAC Lipstick with a Chanel gloss on top. Usually it was Mac Double Shot Amplified Lipstick, which now seems to be discontinued and I'm pretty bummed about it.

What's your holy grail high-end makeup ($$$) product & low-end makeup (drugstore) product?

High-end: I love Too Faced's Better Than Sex Mascara and Chanel lip glosses. Ended up finding my new favorite Chanel Lip Gloss in a Duty Free store when we were on our way to Paris, the "Rouge Coco Gloss 722." Low-end: Revlon black liquid eyeliner for a cat eye, and Loreal Black eyeliner for my lower eyeliner!

What’s the one beauty product you couldn’t live without on The Bachelor?

I could not and still cannot live without wearing either Ardell Wispies 113, or Ardell Double Up Wispies

Bachelor Beauty Tips_Marikh Mathias

You have amazing eyebrows, what’s your go-to brow product and what eyebrow maintenance do you use? (And how did you maintain them while you were on set?)

Thank you! It's funny because I started getting my eyebrows done when I was 11, so I have gone through all the good, bad and ugly phases of curating my current brow routine. Now that the hardest part is behind me, I will only ever get my brows threaded. I find it's the most precise way of creating the perfect shape. Since I didn’t have access to someone who could thread my brows on the show, I would trim them and tweeze any strays, basically just maintaining the existing shape. To fill in my brows, I use the ELF brow kit in medium. It's $3 and it's my secret weapon.

What do you use for contouring and foundation? Any tips/techniques?

I’m always trying out new foundations, but my current favorites are the new NARS Natural Radiant Longwear foundation (I’m the color Aruba) and the Born This Way foundation from Too Faced. One tip that I live by for foundation application is to wait 10-15 minutes after applying your moisturizer. Once it’s had time to sink into my skin, I go in with a primer and then foundation. I do this because whenever I apply foundation right after my moisturizer, it gets oily, blotchy, and slides off much faster. Busy girls need their foundation to look fresh all day, and this trick helps me achieve that.

As for contouring, I like to work with powders more than creamy or liquid products because they’re easier and faster. I love the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer in Medium/Deep for contouring my nose because it’s the perfect shade – not too cool or warm. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that it smells like chocolate! Besides to contour my nose, I use bronzer all over my face to get a healthy glow.

What's your holy grail high-end makeup ($$$) product & low-end makeup (drugstore) product?

The Chanel Tan de Soleil is a sun-kissed, perfect post-beach-vacation glow packaged into a creamy bronzer. I know I said I don’t love creamy contouring products earlier, but this one is an exception. The consistency is very easy to work with and blend out because it’s not an actual liquid or heavy cream. This type of formula makes it look much more natural on the skin as well. I use it in all the areas I would apply my bronzer, so cheeks, forehead and jawline. If I want an even deeper glow, I add powder bronzer on top. All the beauty bloggers rave about it, and I’m telling you the hype is real!

I almost always buy mascara from the drugstore, and I’m in love with the L’Oreal Voluminous Feline Mascara currently. It makes my lashes so thick sans clumps and super long. It’s great for layering a couple coats to add drama without sacrificing any definition. The price point is about $8, so you really can’t go wrong.

What’s the one beauty product you couldn’t live without on The Bachelor?

Concealer! There are a lot of late nights and crying involved, so I needed to be armed with the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer at all times. I haven’t met a concealer that I love more than it (I’ve probably gone through 100+ tubes over the years), but the Tarte Shapetape is a close second that I’ve recently discovered. If you are planning on being on The Bachelor and aren’t a goddess with perfect under eyes, bring concealer.
