You Can Close Your Eyes

My dad sent me this video of James Taylor and his then wife, Carly Simon, singing one of my all-time favorite songs, “You Can Close Your Eyes.” I was so moved by the impromptu setting and casual vibe that makes this video seem like an uncovered gem. Most surprising to me (since this video is from 1977), is how I want to emulate virtually every aspect of Carly Simon’s look. From her wavy hair, to her muted floral dress, watching this song has quickly become one of my morning rituals.

I looooooooooooooove Carly’s look. Which reminds me, there’s a famous photo of her being held upside down by some man and everything is showing…I’m going to have to search for that!

I’ve always wanted wavy hair like carly simon’s but my hair doesn’t curl easily. I agree though, it’s such a great look, especially for summer.

My mom used to sing me this song before bed when I was younger! Such a classic.
