White Chocolate Peppermint Mousse Cups

December 11th, 2012

There are certain days when you need something extra special for dessert – when a sugar cookie or piece of pie just won’t cut it. And don’t get me wrong – this white chocolate peppermint mousse is good. Like really good. But when served in a homemade chocolate cup that you can also eat? You’ll feel like you belong in a slightly more glamorous Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. They’re also pretty fun (or at least a good challenge) to make, since it requires you to blow up balloons and dip them in chocolate, but it’s all worth it when you can eat the entire dessert (recipe here) in the end.

I’m not sure I’ve met a day where a sugar cookie wouldn’t cut it. But. These look scrumptious! And kitchen fun for a looner.

Your patience in making these is impressive and your photos are lovely, as usual.

This is such a genius holiday recipe idea! Definitely better than a cookie, in my humble opinion. White chocolate and peppermint are such a great holiday combination. Imagine a dark chocolate mousse with a white chocolate cup? Heaven!

BEAUTIFUL! This dessert looks so time consuming, but the end product is over the top. You go girl!

  • Kenzie

Most balloons are made with latex. While these are completely adorable, please be aware that this could be SUPER dangerous to someone with a latex allergy to eat.

  • http://ainfintaire.blogspot.com Alice

I remember my best friend and me experimenting with something like this in middle school. Let’s just say that it did NOT end well. :)

The way you do it though, Emily, makes things seem so effortless and precise. If only I could have the time and talent to make such yummy looking little chocolate cups! Not to mention that delicious-looking mousse inside of it.
Oh, Emily, won’t you please move into my house/neighborhood and just be my best friend?!

On a more serious note though, what Kenzie had to point out is very very important to note. Since most balloons are latex, keep these cups away from people with latex allergies! Or better yet, why not find some sort of alternative to the balloon?
