We Can Work It Out
About a month ago, my boyfriend surprised me with tickets for tonight’s show to see Paul McCartney at the Hollywood Bowl. I was giddy with excitement and immediately started to imagine my perfect outfit; which included a flowy white dress, flat sandals and armfuls of wooden bracelets. Turns out, my breezy little number would be quite inappropriate seeing as how it’s supposed to rain throughout the entire evening. Instead of opting for my boyfriend’s poncho and a baseball cap, I’ve decided to make the most of the situation and put together a few of my rainy day favorites.
Dotty Pac-A-Parka, Topshop: $55
Vintage Flower Necklace, Forever 21: $6.80
Patent Leatherette Canvas Tote, Forever 21: $24.80
Arty Cornaline Ring, Yves Saint Laurent: $395
Harrington Alligator-Effect Leather Belt, Michael Kors: $325
Roxanne Skinny Jeans, 7 For All Mankind: $155
Original Wellingtons, Hunter Boots: $115
Lace Tie Waist Top, Topshop: $65
Heart Print Umbrella, Burberry: $250
Retrosun, Vintage Christian Dior Sunglasses: $275
Wire Bow Headband, Forever 21: $4.80
Nika Woven Cotton-Blend Wrap, LemLem: $65

Much better than a poncho and baseball cap
I’m loving the yellow hunters. And the polka dot parka. Nice picks!
Great festival chic! I am going to a festival this summer and had a similar outfit in mind as in England it always rains!

i’m kind of bummed it’s supposed to rain! i’m attending the premiere for the film ‘the clash of the titans’ at grauman’s chinese tonight and we have to wait outside to get our passes/checked in… i’m hoping they put a tent up or something like they have in the past. have so much fun at the concert! i’m sure it will be nothing less than stellar… it is mr. mccartney, after all!
Gorgeous! Love the outfit – you’ll look incredibly stylish, even in the rain!
OMG! It poured down rain when I saw Paul in Atlanta (yep we’re on a first name basis haha). He made up some silly song about a rain soaked bra someone threw on stage.
nice selection ! love the pants and the boots
xx

Hey nice set!
Cute rainy day picks. Those yellow Hunters would definitely brighten a gloomy day!
Great post! Hope you have a fabulous time at the concert!
this is such a perfect post – it has not stopped raining in paris, and it is hard to look pretty and well put together when it keeps raining on your head and messing everything up! LOVE the yellow boots
love it!

For me, jeans never bode well in rain…they absorb way too much! The whole selection is too cute though
Love it…and rain, or no rain, that’s going to be a GREAT concert! Hope you guys have a good time!

don’t you love when the weather ruins an outfit plan! that was a great plan b. I love that canvas tote. It looked as if it was pricey but it was not only from forever 21. Very cool! I like that you stepped out of the box instead of going with the standard cap and poncho

Yellow Hunter boots are my fave.
I am so so jealous. I LOVE Paul McCartney. When I say love, I mean fly all the way from Texas to NYC to see him in concert. Hope you had a great time!

The outfit is fabulous – the poncho is sweet and I’m loving that belt. Congrats on the new gig! [I can't get the Beso contest rules page to load but that's likely my work computer settings.] I hope the concert was wonderful, and that you managed to stay relatively dry!
That is a classic English music festival wardrobe!! Lol. Love it. Have fun!
How did you like the show? I “saw” Sir Paul last summer (I didn’t have tickets, but watched/listened from Bleacher Bar when he played Fenway Park) and it was so fun! I’m glad you didn’t let a little rain get you down–they’ve declared a state of emergency in New England due to the record-setting amount of rain we’re getting! Congratulations on the new job! I checked out the website and it looks great.
congratulations on your new job!!!you’ll be stunning tonight!
Love Paul in concert! You will too!!!
fuN! love the outfit especially the bag, topshop top, and wellies!

Oooh, such cute rain gear…it has been raining forever here in NH….I could use those wellies, since I still head out with my 2 little ones in the rain! They have rainboots….but poor Mama hasn’t gotten a pair yet!
I just bought a pair of faux wellies. I’m in love. I want real ones now.
Thanks for sharing the contest
Those are so cute!

You’ll look amazing no matter what!! Have a lovely evening Emily! And congrats on the new position
i just tried to enter the contest, and my comment wont show up
I looked at that tote and immediately felt sad because it is so cute and I knew it would be way out of my price range, only to see that it’s $24.80! Great feeling! Have fun tonight.
Hey, congrats on the new job–you’ll be terrific!
Hope the weatherman is wrong and the rain clears just in time for Paul’s first note.
Congratulations on being the style director for Beso! That is fantastic! I tried to leave a comment on the “pea green” Hunter rain boots, but I guess it didn’t post. Either way, what a fun contest!
I have to say that I love everything on your post today. Hope you have fun tonight!!

Love the outfit pieces – am big believer that a large cocktail ring can completely make the outfit. Now, all you need is the perfect concert hairdo – I’m thinking, side braid! Check out pics and more info on this hair trend, at

Congratulations on the fantastic new job! Sounds very cool.

oh, loving ur rainy day options, especially the polka dot mac. I reckon u’d love motelrocks.com if u’ve never tried it before, quirky dresses in lots of different cute patterns, and if you type in JACKSON at the checkout you can get 20% off, free shipping to USA too : D
I love the way the yellow wellies brighten the whole outfit! Great picks. Congrats on the new job!!!
Great outfit! I love how you were able to mix the original idea of a flowing white dress into a white cotton breezy top. If the sun comes out then the sunglasses, shirt and jeans will still be outdoor concert-chic, and if not, then you can stay dry and still be stylish! Love the Top Shop “pac-a-parka”, it is perfect. I saw his show in Toronto and it truly was amazing. Love, A
Hi Emily!
I love the yellow hunter boots with the blue&white polka dotted rain coat. Great ideas. Hey, ask tips or thoughts on the whole socks with sandals trend?
Ciao,

I love your blog!
I tried to leave a comment on the Beige Hunters, but I’m not sure it took! Here’s my comment just in case!!!
To be honest…I’m a college student with a VERY limited budget. I can’t afford to buy beautiful boots like these, but would absolutely DIE to own a pair! I chose beige because it’s such a pretty shade and would match with virtually EVERYTHING I own. Living in a wet and somewhat cold climate, these little babies would be absolutely perfect for the upcoming spring weather. I’m in love…please pick me
LOVE the yellow boots! so cute!
http://www.smartprettyandawkward.com
That pac-a-parka is adorable! If only I could have worn it in October, when I spent three days in rainy, muddy concerts at Austin City Limits. Sometimes those experiences are the most fun, though. Enjoy tonight, rain or shine!
Congratulations on the new job, that is awesome, you are definitely worthy of being a style director! I hope you have a great time tonight too, looking infinitely more stylish than the rest of us could in the rain
So fun!! Have a blast at the concert. Sucks that it may rain, but the outfit is super cute. I totally heart that parka and the Hunter boots. To die for!! Must buy a pair, then I would probably look forward to rainy days in Seattle. xo

love the shirt dress and yellow hunter boots

what a perfect rainy day concert outfit!
http://aSequinDressatBreakfast.wordpress.com
I’m going too and I was planning a maxi dress. Boo. It’s my third time seeing him, but I’m more excited for this one, despite the forecast. I definitely am donning my flat black mid calf boots over leggings and an oversized v-neck boyfriend sweater. Might as well be comfortable if there’s some rain.
More than the rain, I’m a bit concerned about the traffic so I’m planning to be there extra early, possibly a full 2 hours before showtime. Clash of the Titans Premiere (Hollywood Blvd closed between Orange & Highland West Bound) + Bowl Traffic + Possible Rain? LA Disaster. Thank goodness I work/live nearby.
OMG I saw Paul McCartney a few years ago my roommate is in a band that opened up for him in Quebec city. It was the best night of my life!!!! He’s such a performer and just to have the chance to hear these songs live is such a blessing! The energy was soooooo amazing! You’ll see!!!!!
Love the outfit……
Have a great time tonight!!! It will be an amazing show.
you’re definitely turning lemons into lemonade with those choices. HOT!
Such cute finds – and have an amazing time!
The navy poncho + striped scarf + hunter wellies = just too cute!
And congrats on the new gig!
XOXO

the skies still look clear, you might be in luck! but either way i’m sure you’ll have a blast!
Love those yellow rain boots!
XOXO,

You are SO lucky. I’m bummed I missed him at Coachella last year, but I am going this year (though he’ll not be there, it will be amazing).
Are you going to Coachella? I know you love Palm Springs so much and I bet you’d have some awesome festival outfits…I’m trying to figure out mine.
Cheers,
Lusty xx00
So I totally want that parka and the ring. Might just have to settle (sp?) for the parka though. Ring is out of my price range. Darn! Great outfit!
http://www.raesstylefile.blogspot.com/
This is one of my favorite posts yet! The umbrella is divine–rainy day fashion is so difficult but this outfit is amazing
Love the outfit! I just bought the cutest pair of bright yellow BCBG jelly shoes and I need to buy that bag from Forever 21 to go with them!
The dotty raincoat and bright wellies are perfection together. Sir Paul won’t be able to resist your charms!
I’m going to see Simon and Garfunkel next month, so I’m in the same situation! Luckily, the concert is indoors.
I’ve been dying to buy a pair of Hunter boots and now that spring is here, which means major rain, I think I need to buy some ASAP!
YOu have awesome taste, would love any of these!
genius outfit! love the bright color of your hunter boots.
http://charmingfrivolity.blogspot.com/
I wish I could see pictures of you in the outfit! It looks really nice in my mind so I hope I can really see it further. Have fun @ the concert!!!!

Hi Emily, just wanted to let you know I left you something on my blog. I hope you have a great time tonight and I adore the polka-dotted parka…everything here just goes together so well. You’ve got an impeccable eye. : )
Wow what perfect choices for the occasion! It’s so cute! However I would add more warm layers because it’s freezing at the Hollywood Bowl at night, no matter what month.
I’ve been following your blog for a while and its awesome to see your styling for LA weather and events. It’s an inspiration for me.
Hope you can check out my blog-
