Cupcakes and Cashmere

Taking Flight

May 16th, 2008

After I witnessed this atrocity just days ago, I’ve been hesitant to write about anything in regards to hair accessories ever since. But, in all reality, Sarah Jessica Parker would have gotten ripped apart had she shown up in a black dress and strappy sandals for being too predictable, so I guess you’re damned if you do, and you’re damned if you don’t. This Plumage Headband might not get the nod of approval from everyone, but I’m oddly drawn to its earthy, tribal vibe. The feathers are all concentrated on one side, so you won’t end up looking like Big Bird, but I think it’s probably best suited for brunettes since the combination of browns blend in so nicely. I suppose I’ll just have to sit tight until there’s a canary version that camouflages with a blond so people don’t think a bird has built a nest in my hair.

I think it’s cute! Pheasant feathers are so pretty! I still don’t understand why SJP wore that headpiece, it looked like they were all dressed as their characters, except cynthia nixon.

Ohh! I JUST ordered a similar clip from bonafide.com. They have a lighter colored one (which is the one I got) so I hope it goes well with the blonde. Check it out!

I am so with you cupcakes — love, love, anything feather-related, and this headband is a total find but that SJP disaster — oof don’t get me started.

As far as being a blond and pulling this off, have you considered ostrich feathers? I’ve seen this done before, mainly for weddings, but quite lovely. I dunno – just a thought!
