Cupcakes and Cashmere

Sweets of Summer

August 7th, 2008

Despite my recent aversion to Summer, I’ve come to realize that a lot of my fashion inspiration stems from things revolving around this time of year. Take the above top from H&M, for example. Though it’s about two sizes too big (it’s clipped in the back for the picture), I bought it simply because the color reminded me of cotton candy. With this in mind, I’ve put together a couple of other pairings, all of which have been influenced by Summertime sweets.

Diane Von Furstenberg’s El Shane Tie-Dye dress has been on my radar for quite some time, thanks to its amazingly juicy colors and simple shape. Worn with a thick, braided belt and some earthy sandals, this would be a great look for an outdoor concert.

Tory Burch and S’mores….two of my greatest loves.  Though I already own a pair of her orange flats, these Reva Tri Color Logo ones are even more fabulous.  The pairing of three neutral colors combine to create such a classic look that is reminiscent of my all-time favorite after-barbecue dessert.

Although I love all of these items, if I put the El Shayne Tie-Dye dress on my body I would resemble a piece of candy corn rather than a slim, sleek popsicle.

I saw + tried on the DVF dress in NY at Barneys co-op. Sadly it was not in my size but it was ON SALE!!! SO much so that I was going to buy it and alter it…but I had something else coming in the mail and could not have both… but you should check it out. for sure.

Oooh these are such great comparisons!!! I saw the DVF dress today and it did remind me of those rainbow popsicles and lots of juicy fruit. And then I ended up blowing some money on a gorgeous blue DVF shirtdress. It’s way too big for me, but it was incredibly comfortable and I had to stuff it in my purse so my friend wouldn’t get mad at me for spending so much, and it didn’t even wrinkle!!

mmmm…. while i like clothes and fashion as much as the next chick, my main passion in life is snacks. specifically, sweet snacks. i wish all my clothes looked like candy. or popsicles…
