Sweet Talk

candys.jpg

Over the years, I’ve developed a sort of obsession when it comes to compiling lists.  Whether I’m standing in line for coffee or waiting at the doctor’s office, I find it relaxing to sort things out in my head.  Not that anyone’s ever quizzed me on my favorite movie soundtrack or most beloved colors, but I guess I just like to know for myself.  Inspired by Halloween, I thought I’d share my most cherished candies:

Skor - The buttery toffee that’s enveloped in a thick layer of milk chocolate is simply amazing.

Reese’s (Holiday Edition) -  Yes, it’s ridiculous that I make the distinction between a regular Reese’s and the ones that come out for the Holidays, but I love how the peanut butter goes all the way to the edge.

M&M Minis – These taste even better than the originals, mainly because of their super cute size.

If you had to narrow it down to your three favorite candies, which would they be?

7 Kelli { 10.16.08 at 8:41 am }

Totally with you on the Reese’s Egg! It does taste better then the original. That would have to be my first choice, then Sweet Tarts and lastly would be Oompas. I have not been able to find them in a while but I have fond memories of them!

Oh my gosh–just three? A nearly impossible task but I’ll try…
1. Twix- Probably because it comes with TWO bars in one pack; and I’m a sucker for psychological trickery like this.
2. Peanut M&M’s—especially when you bite into that rare one that contains no peanut, only a big hunk ‘o’ chocolate.
3. Red Vines—not Twizzlers, RED VINES. The world’s most perfect movie candy and strangely available only on the west coast.

Is it bad that I’m craving candy at 9 am?

9 sharon rose { 10.16.08 at 8:56 am }

Hi there! I think your Skor is the same as our Dime bar-oh, my favourite!! I also love fruitella chewy sweets and frys turkish delight, which is in chocolate too-yummy!!

10 Laura { 10.16.08 at 9:02 am }

I’ve never had any of those, they sound awesome.

I guess my favourites are:

Jelly Tots; adorable little gummies

Cadburys dairy milk, in all it’s incarnations

And Milky way bars.

11 Always In Style { 10.16.08 at 9:06 am }

I’m so with you on the Reese’s holiday eggs and would like to add candy corn and marshmallow peeps to that list :)

16 Adiel { 10.16.08 at 10:15 am }

Great topic!
1. Sour Patch Kids
2. Milk Duds
3. Gumballs

17 apricot tea. { 10.16.08 at 10:16 am }

Mmm, now you have me craving chocolate. :]

My favorites:
1. Sour Patch Kids
2. Dark Chocolate Milky Ways (my MOST favorite!)
3. Monkey bread — even though this isn’t candy, it’s one of my favorite sweets to eat.

18 megan { 10.16.08 at 10:38 am }

how fun!!
1. dark chocolate hershey kiss truffles
2. reese cups (halloween pumpkin ones!)
3. swedish fish

19 Tai { 10.16.08 at 10:54 am }

I’m not sure how you managed to leave Nutrageous off your top-three list, with its crunchy peanuts, gooey caramel, salty Reese’s peanut butter and of course, chocolate. I’m trying hard not take offense after many conversations with you about the merits of that candy bar. I’m sure if you could have, you would have put as a tie for third with the mini M&M’s. My list:

1. Nutrageous
2. Peanut M&M’s
3. Skor

Much love

20 * Fashion Dreamer * { 10.16.08 at 11:04 am }

Ooooh love this post!!

* Oreo cookies
* Milka – only normally available at the airport :o (
* Iced gems

21 Paige { 10.16.08 at 11:13 am }

1. Jelly Belly jelly beans
2. Dove chocolate squares
3. Candy Corn

if my list needed a few alternates i would go with Twix, KitKat, Junior Mints.

22 Rachel { 10.16.08 at 11:13 am }

Oh, no. We’re going to have a fight. I’m a Heath girl all the way.
But I do agree with you about the Reese’s eggs – I look forward to them all year!

23 Amber Eilert { 10.16.08 at 11:24 am }

mmmmmmmm.
1. almond joy
2. reeses peanut butter cups
3. gummy coke bottles

24 Geoffrey { 10.16.08 at 11:28 am }

Narrowing down the list to these three choices must have been very difficult , since you clearly left off Caramelo, which I know is usually near the top . Here are mine:

1. Jelly Belly’s (minus buttered popcorn)
2. Ghiradelli Intense Dark Mint Bliss
3. Salt Water Taffy

I’ll be sure to keep a Skor bar handy, next time you get feisty.

25 Julia { 10.16.08 at 11:37 am }

Okay, this is such a great post! Especially when the advertisement here at the bottom of the page is boasting “HOW I LOST 35 POUNDS FAST!”

:)

Okay, top three: Cadbury milk chocolate with fruit and nuts, Almond Joys, and Mr. Goodbar!

26 Amy { 10.16.08 at 1:06 pm }

To add to the amazing holiday special edition candy: SweetTart sour jelly beans — only available at easter but worth waiting all year for! (or buying a several-month supply like i do)

27 Sal { 10.16.08 at 1:11 pm }

I completely agree on the Reese’s. The eggs and such have a MUCH higher ratio of peanut butter to chocolate and are by far superior.

1. Trader Joe’s dark chocolate covered caramels
2. Starburst
3. Reese’s eggs (yum)

28 katelin { 10.16.08 at 1:13 pm }

i freaking love reese’s and three musketeers, delish.

29 fashionherald { 10.16.08 at 1:32 pm }

i forgot how good skors are! Minature Reese’s peanut butter cups from the freezer, Hershey’s, & butterfingers.

30 Sabina { 10.16.08 at 1:44 pm }

What a fun post.

OK – my favorite candies are almond joy, any dark chocolates, and butterfinger. I confess I steal them out of my kids halloween bags every year!!

31 savvymode sg { 10.16.08 at 1:51 pm }

hm…. see’s candy almond royale, reese’s peanut butter cup and godiva chocolate caramel square…. yummy!!!!

32 Kristin { 10.16.08 at 1:53 pm }

There is nothing like the holiday edition Reese’s eggs! The peanut butter / chocolate ratio is perfect!

#2 – chunky bar
#3 – peanut m&m’s

33 mrs. french { 10.16.08 at 2:25 pm }

a girl after my own heart…reese’s is my favorite…

34 LuVvy { 10.16.08 at 3:05 pm }

Lindt chocolates in dark choc, hazelnut and espresso!

35 Anastacia { 10.16.08 at 3:28 pm }

I totally get list making, i’m a big fan i have a special notepad for them. I mainly write what i want in them, it helps me find ways of getting it. Or the plots of the books i am going to write, lol. Favourite candy, difficult not a sweet girl but Percy Pigs (british thing), strawberry laces, sour skittles.

36 enc { 10.16.08 at 5:55 pm }

This is a great one! You have good taste in candy.

1. M&Ms dark
2. Anything chocolate/caramel
3. Haribo Gummi Bears

37 silje { 10.16.08 at 7:24 pm }

Love Reese and M&Ms. Thank you for the great advice on the ripped jeans!!

38 songy { 10.17.08 at 4:32 am }

They are very cute, Emily. :) I remember having lots of chocolate (covered small bun shaped) biscuits and marshmallows in between just like a Sandwich when I was a little kid. They are called ‘choco pie’ in Korean. I’m sure I can still buy that stuff in supermarkets.. old memories..

39 BudgetLexicon { 10.17.08 at 4:51 pm }

It is really strange the things we have in common. I LOVE the Reese’s peanut butter cups “Easter Egg.” Everyone thinks I am weird as well for having the holiday distinction.

40 Chrissy { 10.24.08 at 9:25 pm }

1. Butterfingers!!! FO SHO
2. Milky Way
3. Cadbury Eggs

Yummmmm!! Good question :)

41 Paisley Petunia { 10.30.09 at 2:27 pm }
