As I mentioned just days ago, I love that sequins are no longer reserved simply for holiday parties and elegant soirees. When paired with rugged boots and casual basics, they’re a welcomed (and festive) change and I can’t get enough of the combination. I picked up this vintage necklace at the flea market this past weekend and while I love its shape and the gentle clinking sound it makes when I move, my neck is seriously irritated. I think it’s my body’s way of discouraging me from wearing jewelry that costs less than $8.

If your skin’s irritated from the materials the necklace is made out of, try coating it with a layer of nail topcoat or even spray sealant if you have it- I made the mistake of buying a necklace from F21 and let me tell you, my skin seriously hate nickel… some clear sealant did just the trick!

If the necklace is metal and irritating your neck (probably tiny little red bumps?) It”s contact dermatitis and if you put a little clear nail polish on the areas that hit your neck it shouldn’t happen anymore

Maybe you can try to paint the underside of the necklace with clear nail polish. It may provide a barrier to prevent irritation.

If it’s the metal of the necklace that’s bothering you, try putting clear nail polish on the parts that touch your skin. It may reduce the irritation.

This outfit is genius! I’ve had my eye on that sequin J. Crew skirt for a while, but never actually ended up buying it…hopefully I’ll be able to find a cute vintage version somewhere else.
