Street Eats

I can’t think of a better way to spend a warm evening in L.A. than sitting on a curb eating one of the city’s most unique fusion cuisines.  After months of hearing nothing but rave reviews, we finally caught up with the Kogi BBQ Taco Truck dishing out Korean food with a Mexican twist.  I ordered enough to feed a small horse, but had no problem polishing off their signature sliders along with pork and short rib tacos.  To cleanse the palette afterward, we hunted down the closest Yogurtland (a new obsession) for some peanut butter frozen yogurt with Heath Bar.

The food from Kogi looks so good! I like the idea of that kind of fusion… That’s a great shot of you sitting on the curb too.

How is it possible that you make a lunch wagon and self serve yogurt look so glam and amazing!

Looks so so good! And all that was going through my mind is: You know you’ve been in Malaysia too long when I look at that darling pic of you on the sidewalk with your purse there and think “Oh no, better pull that purse in your lap so it doesn’t get stolen.” Darn purse snatchers here. xx

This looks SO delicious! I love the outfit too, very simple yet stylish.

20 Colleen { 08.06.09 at 6:00 am }

Good Lord! How on earth do you eat like that and look so good?? I gained 3 pounds just looking at that peanut butter with Heath bar frozen yoghurt picture! The universe can be so unfair!

21 Vivian { 08.06.09 at 6:07 am }

how fun, i heard about the kogi truck before!! it looks quite delicious, and the food inside the burger looks quite authentic. i’d love to try… as much as i hated korean food when i was living there, i really miss it now. go figure.

22 Sal { 08.06.09 at 6:12 am }

What a fantastic fusion of cuisines! I’m DEFINITELY making you my personal restaurant guide when I come out to L.A.

23 underfunded heiress { 08.06.09 at 6:16 am }

I love yogurtland! Best summer treat.

24 The Lil Bee { 08.06.09 at 6:24 am }

That yogurt sounds ridiculously good. I miss having all of the ice cream shop options in the city. Here we only really have Friendly’s and Ben & Jerry’s. Not that I don’t take full advantage of both, but I would love a gelato stand or fro-yo place or something.

25 graceful nichole { 08.06.09 at 6:26 am }

I don’t even eat meat and that looks delicious! Love your outfit, so effortless and chic!

26 noah { 08.06.09 at 6:37 am }

yougurtland is the most wonderfulest place EVER

34 Joan { 08.06.09 at 8:06 am }

Um, I think those pork sliders with jalapeños just blew my mind. Too bad we don’t have meal trucks in Atlanta!

And, how is it that you make a simple pony tail look so pretty and awesome? Jealousness all around!

35 D { 08.06.09 at 8:33 am }

looks delish!

36 Erin { 08.06.09 at 8:37 am }

I am also obsessed with Yogurtland. We are so lucky to live in L.A. and always have one close by! Those lines can get ridiculous though. But it’s worth it. I’d kill for a peanut butter one right now, even though it is 8:30 in the morning. Some days are just like that.
XO!

37 L { 08.06.09 at 8:40 am }

That looks absolutely amazing!

38 Heather { 08.06.09 at 8:47 am }

ok that looks incredible & i adore that photo of you sitting on the curb…i think you were born to blog!

45 Emily { 08.06.09 at 10:26 am }

I simply adore buying food from carts! There’s something about the sweet exchange and the informality that makes this dining experience so much better!

46 Rachel (Heart of Light) { 08.06.09 at 10:28 am }

So glad you guys got to try it! We haven’t tracked them down yet.

47 Wanderlusting { 08.06.09 at 10:45 am }

48 Micaela { 08.06.09 at 11:06 am }

I’m going to LA in two weeks and will definitely check out some of the places you’ve suggested here and there! Thanks!

49 Jen { 08.06.09 at 11:09 am }

I heard that fusion Mexican/Korean food was really good but there’s no where like that to eat here. And I agree with everyone else, I love your outfit to pieces!

50 Bethany { 08.06.09 at 11:11 am }

mmm… that looks good! never tried Korean food, but that’s not a surprising considering i live in West Virginia.

51 Style Geek { 08.06.09 at 11:42 am }

Yay for Yogurtland. They opened one here in Dallas and it is very addicting. Who knew frozen yogurt would go so good with Gummi Bears? ^___^

YogurtLand! The first one I ever went to was in L.A. Now I’ve been staying with my boyfriend in San Diego, & was pleasantly surprised to find out they have like 3 YogurtLands here. :)

62 Ashley { 08.06.09 at 4:10 pm }

I’m curious to find out how long your wait was at the Kogi truck. One night I made it my mission to get Kogi Bbq. After twittering them and tracking them down, the line for the food stretched out around the block. The friends that I were with didn’t seem keen on standing in line for an hour, so we left. How long did you wait?

63 hanako66 { 08.06.09 at 4:16 pm }

that looks so good…it is so hard to track it down!!

64 Alice { 08.06.09 at 5:06 pm }

65 Tee Sea { 08.06.09 at 5:06 pm }

Mmmm…nothing beats tacos from a truck on a hot summery L.A. day. While I have yet to catch onto the Yogurtland craze, my favorite froyo place in L.A. is still 21 Choices. You should definitely check it out, if you havent’ already!!

I was wondering what nail polish you have on in this post? I love it! But, I can’t tell if it’s a lavender color or a pale pink color. Either way it’s fabulous!
