Stockholm Street Style

I’ve been feeling a bit ‘meh’ about my closet lately.  Does that ever happen to you?  Thankfully there are sites like Stockholm Street Style that are just oozing with fabulous ideas from normal girls.  I’m loving the vintage glasses, slouchy bags and pretty sandals that these Swedish girls are wearing.

Where do you look when you need a little inspiration?

Gosh I get that feeling ALL the time about my closet. I love reading fashion blogs for one, especially ones with people who’s style is different than mine since I get to pull ideas from it. And I also like looking at my fashion muses’ candid pictures for inspiration. And I agree, I really like getting ideas from real fashionable girls (like you for one).

i totally know what you mean… especially right now since I am abroad for the summer and only have about a third of my closet with me =( I love Stockholm St. Style though! actually have a bunch of these same images saved too, haha

I go through this very same thing whenever I have to pack for a trip. I think polyvore is really helpful. I usually just search the destination I’m headed and a whole sleuth of inspiring outfits pops up. I also find watching old movies to be very outfit inspiring.

hello C&C readers! I think the whole ‘fabulous ideas for normal girls’ goes for this blog as well! I have a favor to ask all of you…I just started a little blog of my own, and if anyone could have a look at tell me what you like/don’t like/want, I would really appreciate it! http://www.inwonderlandmeredith.blogspot.com/
thanks bunches!

I like the website http://www.lookbook.nu – lots of great inspiration. I’ve been feeling a little, uhm, unhappy about my closet too, and I am really looking forward to payday next month.

That’s funny that you posted this because I was just lamenting (and going to write a similar post) about how uninspired I’ve been with my closet. One of the ways I find inspiration is trolling around eBay for a few hours. I search for things that I wouldn’t normally wear and brainstorm ideas on how to incorporate that into my wardrobe. It normally gets the wheels spinning in the right direction!

7 kelly { 08.12.09 at 4:24 am }

They are all dressed to perfection!

8 Teresa { 08.12.09 at 4:44 am }

Your blog :-) btw, I am a Swedish girl living in Dubai where I write a fashion and lifestyle blog. If you think it sounds like an interesting combo, look it up at candyandcookie.com //regards Teresa

haha I feel that way all the time.. When I get that feeling I go to the Salvation Army Family Store.. browse around and my head goes crazy with new ideas and it doesn’t break my wallet :) I’ve found soooo many good deals that I keep posting them on my blog haha.

I also read fashion blogs like crazy (especially yours) I keep copies of pictures from them and magazines and I have a huge collection.. so when I feel dull with my wardrobe I look at these pictures of outfits I like and try to make one up.

Btw that picture just inspired me to go buy some men’s shirts to wear on the outside haha.. I’ll probably go shopping today :)

10 Luxe. { 08.12.09 at 5:32 am }

I love that site, everybody on it has the most gorgeous hair!

11 Rafaela { 08.12.09 at 5:39 am }

I totally look up to you,Emily!

12 Krysta { 08.12.09 at 5:44 am }

I am loving this style right now. I am trying to incorporate into my daily attire. GREAT post :)

13 The Lil Bee { 08.12.09 at 6:05 am }

OMG, get out of my brain!! I just asked this same question today. Of course, I didn’t include such a darling montage of fashionable girls, but I do need some major inspiration. So I’ll take this as your suggestion! BTW, why do Swedes always look so effortlessly good?

14 cindy khor { 08.12.09 at 6:15 am }

these outfits are uberly cool. what really caught my attention are the crop top, the shorts, the shades and the side-sling bag… i think these are the ones that pulls the whole outfit together

15 Cafe Fashionista { 08.12.09 at 6:24 am }

I’ve become obsessed with this site as of late. Everyone seems to be enshrouded in an ethereal, carefree beauty. Loving the slouchy bags. :)

16 Jaime { 08.12.09 at 6:30 am }

They do look effortlessly chic! Then again, so do you!

Happy hump day, Wednesday!

17 Erin { 08.12.09 at 6:32 am }

This happens to me every season when the fashion magazines tourture us with fall clothes but outside it is still 100 degrees. I am so ready for a change of pace and to dust of my boots and scarves, but I fear it will be tanks and sandles for a couple more months. :(

Thanks for the weather appropriate inspiration.

18 valerie { 08.12.09 at 6:36 am }

I look HERE! In fact, I was having a bit of a packing crisis before my last vacation and solved it with a quick flip through your outfit archives.

19 valerie { 08.12.09 at 6:37 am }

And I also peruse the street style sites. Great inspiration for real life.

20 Christen { 08.12.09 at 6:44 am }

How had I never heard of this site before? Thank you! Weardrobe.com is usually my closet blahs cure.

I somehow have the feeling I will be wasting a few hours at work this afternoon admiring the fashionable women of Sweden…

21 Liz { 08.12.09 at 6:51 am }

I went to Stockholm in 07 and I was blown away! Insanely stylish but in the most subtle way. Everyone was fresh faced, very fit and healthy. The number one best thing about their style: all these tall Swedish babes in high high heels, standing up straight towering over guys. It was wonderful. In the US, I notice tall girls slouching and shrugging. Slaves to flats. They should take a cue from the lovely Swedes!

22 Annie { 08.12.09 at 6:59 am }

When I need some style inspiration, I choose one of my favorite bloggers and look back at some of her archives from the past few months. It always inspires me to pull out a boring old item from my closet and figure out how to work it in a new way!

23 fashionista { 08.12.09 at 7:09 am }

i love that site.. i go there when i need some inspiration, the girls always look so effortles chic

24 Sal { 08.12.09 at 7:24 am }

A fabulous roundup of varied, funky looks. Such fun to be able to draw inspiration from a city far, far away …

25 Tara { 08.12.09 at 7:32 am }

I always look to the past when I need some inspiration! Great looks !

26 freeteyme { 08.12.09 at 7:42 am }

omg, all the time!!!!

27 Cee { 08.12.09 at 8:17 am }

Swedish girls just have that je ne sais quoi, kinda like French girls. It’s effortless. I decided I needed an entire wardrobe revamp after months of feeling this way. Couple more months to go!

28 Melissa { 08.12.09 at 8:17 am }

Great collage! Inspiration, huh? As cheesy as it sounds, I look to my mother. She’s the strongest, most determined woman I know. And she wears the cutest outfits too.

29 Elizabeth { 08.12.09 at 8:41 am }

I totally agree. Right now I feel like I have absolutely nothing to pair from my wardrobe anymore. I usually look to magazines and other blogs, especially streetstyle ones. Those pictures are gorgeous!

30 Taylor { 08.12.09 at 8:46 am }

Emily- those are some great photos! I am diggn’ the girl with the peach dress with the boyfriend shirt and belt (great idea). When I need some style inspiration I go to my “style book”, ever since college I’ve developed this routine where I collect magazines on my dresser and then when it is time to toss them I rip out all my fav style ideas and put them in this gigantic book. I use it all the time to get an new idea (even when they are from 2001). :)

31 Breezy { 08.12.09 at 9:02 am }

the september vogue is on it’s way… i pull the pages that i love and keep them up on my inspiration board for fall!

32 Jess { 08.12.09 at 9:20 am }

ooomg! i’m totally having one of those phases, too. i just feel like my wardrobe is getting so blah and redundant. makes me want to go on a SERIOUS shopping spree… too bad i don’t have adequate funds for anything of the sort.

by the way! i just started my own blog called Barefoot Diaries. It’s a hodge podge of quotes, fashion, my daily activities, and other random ramblings I decide to post. I’d love it if you checked it out! And, please, bear with me… I’m still learning about layout and this whole blogging thing so it doesn’t look incredible yet…. yet :)

35 Carissa { 08.12.09 at 10:15 am }

I look here! really, I do! yours is one of the few fashion blogs I read. and I love this collage of Swedish style, but my fave has to be the girl in the upper right hand corner with the floral dress, pink sandals and cute woven (I think) bag!

36 TheBeautyFile { 08.12.09 at 10:17 am }

I love that these girls are “normal.” The Swedes are ALL gorgeous. It’s like a scientific fact. In the 20s they did this whole bizarre project where they wiped out ugly people & only bred beauties… {Eugenics}

I typically look to you for stylin’ so I hope you get some new inspiration soon! haha
I also look at Betty {Le Blog de Betty}, J. Crew, Lucky, VOGUE & so many other mags.

37 Rachel (Heart of Light) { 08.12.09 at 10:32 am }

They have so many great bags! Amazing.

38 Her name was Lola { 08.12.09 at 10:45 am }

We think alike!.

I just love these looks.

Cheers.

39 french cloud { 08.12.09 at 11:34 am }

41 Alex { 08.12.09 at 12:52 pm }

I live in DC so I go to museums and make a little bit of a more modern style of old school. Like at the Native-American-Indian Museum I love all the beaded stuff.

42 leeselooks { 08.12.09 at 1:11 pm }

take me to sweden!!!

amazing shots + girls. every- time.

X

43 Lainey { 08.12.09 at 2:00 pm }

Since my husband is part Swedish, we plan on visiting within the next couple of years. And I feel like either I’ll extremely inspired each day that I’m there…or I’ll just feel like a schlub in comparison to all the beautiful fashionable women that envelop Stockholm.

44 modernmommablog { 08.12.09 at 2:19 pm }

Oh…. I love the different style point of view!

45 S. { 08.12.09 at 3:01 pm }

46 dani { 08.12.09 at 3:26 pm }

These swedish girls and their trendy selfs are talking over the street style world! However I think you can only look to them for inspiration if your seeking florals, denim jackets, and loose shirts.

47 Shin { 08.12.09 at 3:35 pm }

Everytime I visit Stockholm streestyle blog, I feel like a lot of the girls on the street look like models off duty! They all look so naturally gorgeous! xoxxoxo

49 Lip Gloss and Mane Toss { 08.12.09 at 4:10 pm }

So effortless. They all look like they rolled out of bed, hair perfectly coiffed. With the shades, it’s understated sexy.

love these looks

I grab so much inspiration from the blog world!

51 Maxine { 08.12.09 at 5:47 pm }

I’m currently studying in Australia for 6 months (no complaints there!) but with a 23kg packing limit I’m sick of the stuff I brought.. and it’s only been a month! Thankfully there’s fashion blogs to turn to, but it’s rather weird to be in the opposite season than the rest of the world and see all the budget breakdowns for Fall while we’re anxiously waiting on Spring!

52 Kristin { 08.12.09 at 6:20 pm }

Holy Wayfarers batman. Since having a bambino, my closet wardrobe has become pitiful despite everything I post about. My favorite fashion blogs always give me a pick me up. One of these days I’ll find the time to actually shop. Ah ha

53 Marley { 08.12.09 at 6:43 pm }

Wow, not only do those Swedes dress to impress, but they are all gorgeous!!! Thanks for the site!!

In all honesty, your blog! You have a great way of putting the look together and I tried that salad recipe awhile ago, it was delicious!

58 Farrah { 08.12.09 at 10:08 pm }

I go to Stockholm Street Style too!! These Swedish people really know how to dress. Few months back I was in transit in Stockholm and even at the airport I can see that the Swedish passengers carry out their lives stylishly — made me feel like I was a flight bum.
