Soda Pop

After my boyfriend showed me this video last week on Chow.com, I questioned just how far I was willing to drive for an unbeatable selection of old-school sodas. Turns out, 25 miles didn’t deter us and we had a great time racing through the aisles filled with double brewed colas, spicy ginger ales and exotic flavors like rose blossom, cucumber and banana. After dropping over $60 on soda and candy, we swore to drink them occasionally and give them away as fun gifts, but I highly doubt both statements.

This store looks like so much fun, and your photos are fantastic!! 25 miles would not deter me from getting to this place either!
From living and traveling throughout Africa, I can say that here, you only ever see old school glass bottles and candies from the 90’s!
How incredibly fun! My husband is considering buying a machine to make his OWN soda, so I know he’d appreciate this shop.
What a fun store and weekend adventure! I love all the candy options!

you can always go back for more…
Galcos was my favorite place to go during college! It was just down the street, so I probably tried every soda in the store. It’s great to see it featured on your blog- what a good memory.
Oh, they are so pretty! I totally found myself smiling at all the photos! Love your last statement too… Would definitely make fun gifts though.
How fun!! I wished we had something similar in Jersey !

Are you kidding me with these photos?! I am so supremely jealous!!

oh so fun! you know what this reminds me of? the gummy soda licious pops that we used to get in snack packs…
i think they have discontinued them but wouldn’t that be just so lovely?
and i have to agree with naomi…your shirt is just so lovely!
Where did you get the Faygo? That’s from Detroit, my hometown! My favorite is Red Pop. So good!
Oooh! How very fun! I must find this magical place!
I’m kinda thankful that we don’t have a store like that in Australia {that I know of!} as it could be incredibly dangerous.
And how lovely do you look when even just shopping. Do people stop to tell you so?
my boyfriend and i are always trying out new sodas!
i must make a suggestion! if you like root beer, try the virgil’s brand! soooooo yum.
That sounds like so much fun. xo.
Galco’s is right by my house, love it! I could spend so much time (and money) wandering the aisles. Great feature!
So fun! We drove 25 miles this weekend just to buy an old bike off Craigslist (obviously not my idea). This would have been way more fun.
This looks like a fantastic outing! Very Wonka-esque!
What a fun date!
My boyfriend and I love this store! My fave is the Mint Julep soda. If you don’t live in LA their website is:
sodapopstop.com
That’s kind of amazing!!! They would be cool gifts, hehe.
Oh how fun! Makes me wish I lived closer. Thank you Melanie for the site address. =)
I’m surprised you could stop at $60. I’m not sure I’d have that sort of willpower! xoxo
I grew up in the Mid East and we only drank soda out of bottles like those Pepsi ones. When I went back this summer, I tracked what’s left of them down in the city to take an empty one home!
Dina’s Days is giving away a beautiful clutch!

i quite enjoy that there are coke bottles in pepsi cases
looks like a fun little day trip.
XOXO
Candy buttons! And coke alllways tastes better in a glass bottle. If not, a can. Coke in plastic bottles tastes too fizzy!
I showed the video to my boyfriend who seriously can’t leave a grocery store without looking for a “unique drink” and he immediately went to the website to have a bunch shipped to us! Any favorites?
Oh, Fitz’s! How fabulous - we go to the bottling plant to eat whenever we go up to St. Louis! Their strawberry pop is out of this world!
HOW FUN!!!!

These pictures are amazing! I wish I could find a store like that in Paris..
no way! this is just around the corner from me, and my husband LOVES it!
How fun! I’m so jealous. It is a really great gift idea. =)
Your dress/top also has an old-school feel to it.
