Why I'm crushing on pink and red shadow this holiday season.

As I detailed here, I'm a beauty junkie, and as soon as I see something in my Instagram feed more than once, I keep my eyes on it (in this case, pun intended) as an up-and-coming trend. Recently I started screenshotting multiple sets of eyes in a stunning sunset palette–some iterations are slightly more orangey copper-bronze, while others lean towards a pink/red blend (my personal favorite), but it's a distinct look that's huge right now (I scroll past at least one new example of it on a celebrity a day). Inspired by the images I've come across, I started putting pink blush on my eyelids, and love the effect so much that it's replaced my go-to black cat-eye liner. It provides a pretty, flushed color that warms up your whole face and looks romantic and different. Below is some more visual inspiration in a variety of tones, and a roundup of shadows that will achieve the look.

In terms of the rest of your look when trying out this trend, it's best to keep makeup and hair low-key. You'll notice every single example here showcases a natural or light pink lip, with messier, more undone strands.

An old beauty editor trick is using blush for eye shadow–since I already own multiple different shades of pretty pink-red blush, I didn't need to buy a specific eye shadow to embrace this trend. I've been tinting my eyelids with BeneTint's lip and cheek stain for a super subtle and natural look, and then mixing my two favorite Mac blushes for a more intense blend. I then put the blush on my cheeks and wear my go-to light pink lip, for an overall flushed effect.

P.S., I wanted to show you what the pink hue looked like on my actual eyes, since I know that's preferred to just seeing product, but I wasn't feeling up to snuff when we were photographing this piece (my skin has been going through a rough patch lately). I promise to show you a photo of this look on me soon though!
