When I was approached by New York Mag to pick some of my favorite Spring clothes for Shop-a-Matic, I could barely contain my excitement. The wonderfully executed site consistently puts forth the most inspirational pieces and I got to sort through only the best of the best. Ranging from a “meant-to-be-noticed” nude bra and paperbag shorts to watercolor print dresses and strategic cut-outs, I selected my favorite items in price ranges that can work within anyone’s budget.

I love all your choices! Especially the skirt!
Just coming up with an imaginary outfit off the top of my head: Brightly colored ankle boots (fold-over detail!) in colors like magenta (a la Mulberry at NYFW) paired with bright opaque tights, black high-waist pleated shorts, and a flowery, chintz-y print silk peasant blouse tucked in.
Throw a long pendant necklace in there for good measure.
This is such a cool idea! My favorite piece would have to be the lace top in the second to last row. Although, everything looks amazing! Thanks for sharing this!

must have list for spring….sunshine, long stripy tube dress (topshop) worn with belt (100 years old and tatty but divine) gold LK Bennett sandals and an enormous smile (because its stopped snowing and my toes can see the sun) x

I know you’ve talked about doing a tutorial again and I would love to see a tutorial on your tousled ponytail. Maybe there’s nothing to it, but I have tried to master it so many times to no avail. Perhaps you have some tips and tricks that would be of use?

OMG! That is beyond exciting, Em! I love NY Mag’s style section (and the mag, overall). Each of these pieces are so cute. I really like dress on the second row, second from left. The layout makes me want to shrink down my own wardrobe to see how it would compare… I think mine would have a lot of black and gray!

I absolutely adore your blog and these picks are just fabulous!! My only concern would be that I think you’re definition of “within anyone’s budget” is rather scewed as most average women are unable to drop upwards of $200 on a top or a shorts no matter how cute they are. Please incorporate some lower priced items for us less fortunate next time!!!

I love love love the “Jolly Roger” jacket by Nanette Lapore!
My list for spring is. light flowy dresses, skinny jeans, wide leg trousers, coloured shirts (instead of the blues, greys and black that I keep wearing), flirty skirts, classy heels, gladiator sandals (no more flip flops!). Now to start actually making my closet “grow”.

I agree with Katie’s comment above…your average price point in this loot of clothes is $323. That is clearly not within the average person’s ability to spend on one item of clothing. I make 6 figures and can’t afford to drop $300 on one item of clothing. If you could make picks that the average person could truly afford, I think that would be more helpful (average price point <$100).
Of course my favorite is the very most expensive item: the Drape-Neck Jacket by Vince. Well, I *am* getting a rather large tax return this year…

i love your choices! i have a few of my own as well. I would like a few new skirts and dresses. I would also like some new spring/summer pants perhaps some cropped ones. J’adore the v-cut out dress by Funktional. But I think I’m biased… I’m always drawn to anything coral, its such a beautiful, classic colour.
