Sex and the Country
Since the much anticipated “Sex and The City” opened yesterday, I thought it would be fitting to mention one of my favorite episodes, when Carrie and Aidan visit his “cabin” in the ironically named, Suffern. It brought so much humility to Carrie’s obsession with clothes, which documented her struggle to dress appropriately for a weekend spent in the country. Though I’m not drawing parallels to myself and Carrie, I just planned a trip with my boyfriend and another couple to stay in a cabin in Tahoe during the 4th of July, and I’m slightly apprehensive about how I will adjust to the new environment. While I so want to fit in with the relaxed vibe by the lake, I fear as though my suitcase will be stuffed with slightly-too-dressy items like this Charlotte Ronson Smocked Sundress. Though it’s made of a cotton and linen, the ruffled top and cutesy buttons running down the front might just be a dead giveaway that I’m not a local.

Tahoe people are cool. It’s okay not to be a local! Take things that you can layer, as the temps change.

If it’s your style to dress up or be girly or whatever then you won’t look inappropriate – you’ll just look like yourself and therefore GOOD.
I love that episode. Haha, every time I visit Tahoe, I’m overly dressed in winter gear because I think it’ll be freezing!

I love that episode, especially when she bakes the pie. “The only thing I’ve ever made in the kitchen before is a mess. And several small fires.”
A dress like that could be taken with you, but if you are going to be doing several outdoorsy things, I’d recommend shorts and prettier shirts. It will be a balance of dressier style and practicality.
