In just over a week, we're heading to Riviera Maya, Mexico for our 1-year anniversary. We planned the trip the first week of the year as a way to have something to look forward to, and I've been counting down the days ever since. I'm a firm believer in switching up your vacations - some should be active - filled with exploring, taking in cultural sites and filled with plenty of activities. Others should be centered on the idea of pure relaxation. We'll be visiting the Mayan Ruins (which I've seen once before), but other than that, we'll simply be rotating between the pool and the beach, with lots of reading material and plenty of drinks. In anticipation, here's a glimpse of some of the things I'd like to bring along, focused on neutral basics with a few pops of color.

1. J.Crew Bikini Top, $54 Bottom, $44

2. Essie Avenue Maintain Nail Polish, $8
