{My three favorite perfumes: Annick Goutal’s “Petite Cherie,” Serge Lutens’ “Fleurs D’Oranger” and Jo Malone’s “Honeysuckle and Jasmine”}
Scent plays an integral role in our lives, which is why I surround myself with lovely smelling things in my home. I tend to rotate between several perfumes, but always find myself drawn to ones that are light and floral. It’s such a subtle way to make a statement and I love that people associate me with a certain scent (like gardenias and jasmine). Here are a few of the other products that I love.
How do you add fragrance to you life and which are your favorites?

wonderful post. I enjoy my williams sonoma kitchen candles. vanilla scent smells like real vanilla.
I love to keep my apartment smelling like vanilla. It’s so homey and welcoming. My signature scent is Angel by Thierry Mugler. It smells so soft and almost edible. I have tried different scents but I always got back to that. I love your blog by the way!
Great taste in parfums! I love my Jo Malone lime, basil, and mandarin. Currently scented with Sugar by Fresh. My favorite bath treat I just discovered is Burts Bee’s therapeutic bath crystals. As a matter of fact I am going to dunk myself in them right now, sweet dreams!

I’ve wanted a Jo Malone fragrance for a while, but I can never choose a scent when I’m faced with them all! I always wear Coco Mademoiselle. As far as other scents go, I’m addicted to Lollia products…candles and hand cremes…it’s all amazing…light, fresh florals, you’d probably love it. “Relax” and “Believe” are my favourites. La Licious brand also makes amazing smells. and their coconut body oil is seriously rad. You can use it as just plain body oil, or shave cream, hair conditioner, for split ends, as a tan oil, and it just smells heavenly. it’ll remind you of hawaii in a second!

I find that I only ever get deja vu with smells - they’re so strongly associated with people and places.
I’m personally a slave to Narciso Rodriguez1 For Her. It smells like…me.
Awwww, Petite Chérie has been my perfume for a long, long time. I never get tired. I have many others but I always end up wearing it because it goes with every mood in every season. I love Annick Goutal.
Around Christmastime, I also love wearing Belle de Minuit by Nina Ricci, which has unfortunately been discontinued.
I used to wear L’Eau des Merveilles by Hermès, but I find it’s become too mainstream. I don’t like smelling my perfume on other people

Love this post. My favorite scent is figuier by Dyptique, smells absolutely warm and wonderful. For perfume, I wear Lolita Lempicka, Givenchy’s Ange ou Démon, or even the new Kenzo scent Flower. I agree though, Johnson & Johnson will forever remind me of childhood!

My favorite scent is Chance by Chanel. I love wearing that scent. It makes me feel beautiful, feminine and strong at the same time. In the house I love the smell of homemade bread, or, when I just cleaned the house, the fresh smell of lemons.

Frangrance is wonderful. It adds glamour to my day, and smelling different perfumes that I’ve used I’m reminded of those times in my life! I love it.

I finally bought perfume and went with just a small bottle of Eau Flirt by Harvey Prince - love it! I know this may sound weird, but my deodorant has a really nice smell to it.

I LOVE fragrances too!! I have over 30 perfumes that I rotate. I’m also obsessed with candles. My all time favorite is Voluspa Saijo Persimmon. It will make your house smell wonderful!! Also, Target has a scent right now that is great called Capri Olive and Lemonwood. I use the diffuser and it is just perfect!!
I collect perfume. The perfume I wear that day reflects my mood. If I’m feeling outgoing & quirky, I wear Viva La Juicy. If I’m feeling sexy, Flora by Gucci. If I’m feeling classy & girly, YSL Parisienne. As for other scents, my favorite body wash is Claus Porto Acacia Tuberose. Also, I die over Voluspa Makassar Ebony & Peach candles.

I enjoy Donna Karen Casmere Mist… Because it’s light and powdery. I’m very fond of very clean cents.. Like those called clean linens and so on.. Great post!
i love burberry brit on myself! and sage and citrus has always been a house favorite– it works all year round.
I like Harajuku Girls “G”, it’s a warm tropical scent that gets me through the cold winter. “Light Blue” does the trick too, making me think of the Mediterranean (the power of advertising!) In fact, anything that has a hint of coconut or smells like the beach/ocean is my style year-round. Thanks for your scent suggestions!
I use the Johnson’s Bedtime Lotion as well! It’s really a comforting scent at the end of the day. Recently, I’ve been in love with Viktor & Rolf’s Flowerbomb.
That lotion reminds me of the bottles of lotion that I kept from a Westin in San Francisco. The scent is white tea aloe, and I just love it. I am obsessed. when I run out I might have to buy some on the Westin Web site.
love “Fleurs D’Oranger.” citrus and florals are my favorite, too
my go to daily scent is kai and their candles are wonderful additions to the home.

Lovely post! I love candles and reed diffusers everywhere in the home. Fig, Lavender, and Red Currant are my favorites for the home. Diptyque and Voluspa make some delicious scents! And Z Gallerie has a wonderful Pineapple scent in the summer [and I stock up].
I love Gardenias and light scents for perfume too. My regular go to’s are Chloe and Marc Jacobs. I also got a Marc Jacobs Gardenia - you should check it out.

It’s so funny you say this because last night I went out with my girlfriends, figuring wine therapy might help my back, and I put on perfume for the first time in ages. Marc Jacobs Daisy. I love it, but 99% of the time don’t wear perfume. I have this shampoo and conditioner that I can’t remember the name of but I use it daily and always get complements on my “perfume”!
Also, in high school and college I wore Beautiful and to this day my friends say it reminds them of me, even though I haven’t worn it in about a decade!
my two favorite perfume scents are dolce & gabbana light blue (which i’ve been wearing for almost 5 years!) and YSL elle. i tend to lean toward scents that are crisp and understated.
my favorite candle to burn is yankee candle’s sun & sand - it’s summery, but my place is pretty beachy, so i burn it sometimes during the winter, too.

Sarah Jessica Parker’s “Lovely” has been my favorite perfume for years! It’s very light, since nothing bugs me more than heavy perfumes.
I also love Yankee candles… generic, but smell delicious.
I find myself drawn to scents that are sweet to start, but burn off and end up earthy and musky. Currently my favorite perfume is Miss Dior Cherie, but I LOVE Jo Malone’s Lime Basil Mandarin as well, and Marc Jacob’s Cucumber Splash. In the house, I use white-tea-scented candles. Sweet and fresh! Love it.
My new favorite scent right now is Burt’s Bees Honey & Shea Butter bath wash and body butter. It is so rich and sweet - but clean and fresh too. Perfect!
My favorite perfume of all time is Hanae Mori and my favorite candle is the Capri candle in Volcano at Anthropologie.
I tend to prefer perfumes that are a bit spicier (I’m not a floral kind of girl), and I started wearing idole d’Armani a few months ago. It’s got a beautiful, luxurious scent.
In the shower, I use (and love the smell of) Chaz Dean’s WEN in sweet almond mint and Trader Joe’s honey oatmeal soap.
I don’t burn candles at home becuase I tend to react badly to the smoke, especially if the candle is made of paraffin. (Trouble breating, dry eyes, etc.) But I love the scent of baking cookies, or chocolate cake, or one of the many dishes my husband and I make that have a lot of tomato and basil, or roasted chicken with herbs and spices. There’s something about fresh herbs…
I love vanilla! I’m not a fan of any other smells because I am allergic to most of them.

I have an obsession with scents… but then i started getting bad headaches and i couldn’t wear anything bc it would trigger a migraine. Such a pain. That was a couple years ago and I don’t get headaches as bad anymore so I’m slowly introducing some of my favorites, but I recently got this hair Moroccan hair oil that smells so amazing and I put it in my hair and wipe the rest on my arms and legs, I can’t get enough of it.
My other favs are jergens shea body lotion, Stella McCartney,
Beach by Bobbi Brown lotion, Ojon hair rub-out (hair powder, and it has a faint smell that is so amazing and lasts all day) and the new Prada scent…
I worked in a perfume store in college, which is when I started wearing Spiced Green Tea for daytime and Versace’s Exciting on special occasions.
I once read a description of something as “smelling like a rich girl’s neck,” and that has been sort of my scent goal ever since–I want to smell effortlessly fresh and clean and like I have never in my life had reason to sweat.
For the home my favorite candle is Diptyque’s Violette. There home fragrance in Mimosa is fantastic misted on freshly washed sheets.
As for my personal fragrance, I love the essential oil blends at Henri Bendels. You can even blend different ones together at the store for your own custom scent.
I know just what you mean! It’s such a head trip when I catch a whiff of somebody who wears my mom’s perfume, or an old boyfriend’s cologne.
I have to say, I’ve worn Allure Sensuelle by Chanel every day for years, and it’s the only scent I’ve ever cared a fig about. It was love at first smell!

My fave candle brand is Dipqtyque. Fave scent by them is Pommander: Cinammon and Orange. Its incredible.
Current fave perfume is Roses by Jo Malone because it smells identical in every way to a fresh cut grassy aroma of a rose bouquet. I’m IDENTICAL. (not sickly smelling).
Clinique Elixir is a long term perfume fave though. Whenever I wear it I’m asked what scent am I wearing because they love it.

i am totally addicted to fresh cotton smells. i have them in candles and my perfumes. i use a combo of marc jacobs cotton and clean’s warm cotton. am i over paying to smell like downy? probably, but i am always complimented:)
I love, love ‘Petite Cherie’.. my Aunt, whom I only see once a year, wears it (I live in Toronto, she’s all the way over in Los Gatos) and I’d love to wear it myself, but it would spoil the delight of nostalgia.

I am a staunch Jo Malone fan. I have been wearing her Grapefruit scent for years now and never tire of it. I also recently discovered a scent called Falling in Love by Philosophy. To me it smells like blackberries–but not too fruity–so I spray it on everything.
I especially douse my scarves. That way if I forget to wear perfume, I still smell lovely. Hopefully.
I also adore the way Christian Dior lipsticks smell. Reminds me of my mom, when she would get dressed up to go out with my dad. Isn’t it wonderful how one scent and invoke a million memories?
I am really into Vistor and Rolf’s “Flower Bomb” right now and I always love Chanel’s “Chance”. I am a big fan of Jo Malone too.
i, too, love scents that are light and fresh although i keep a lot of perfumes around just for the bottle, like chanel no.5. my favorite scent of all time is still l’eau d’issey by Issey Miyake, it’s just so unique and stimulating.
I love anything with a hint of oranges.. not citrus as that often includes lemons as well, but I digress.
Rose, vanilla, and oranges - my top 3. Anything that even has a note of these and I’m a slave for life!
petite cherie is perfectly sweet and light, by far my favorite of that line! i, too, rotate between perfumes but all winter i have been wearing mostly “stella” by tocca. it is a deep cirtus, but not too sweet, and it stays with you all day - after a few hours it’s floral notes really make an appearance.
for home, my go-to scent is lavender vanilla - so relaxing but not too floral, and vanilla woods by henri bendel - so perfect for cold days!
I just got over an obession with perfum-I have too many favorites! But I’m finishing up my bottle of Viva La Juicy so that I can justify buying the new Juicy scent, which I LOVE-but some other faves are LaVanilla (all of them), Burberry The Beat, and I always keep Pacifica Ruby Guava solid purfum in my purse for days when i forget to spritz myself or I’m going to a place with people who are sensative to synthetic sents, since it is perfectly natural and lovely!

I’m obsessed with Tom Ford’s “Champaca Absolute” (part of his Private Blends collection). It is beyond incredible, but it starts at $180, so needless to say I haven’t bought it yet.
Someday. But I”m also obsessed with the scent of certain dishsoap (reminds me of home), body creme from P-town on the Cape, the ocean generally (even low tide!), and Dior’s Hypnotic Poison.

I find the science of scent to be so fascinating. I, myself, am always drawn to vanilla. I’ve been told that I smell like baked goods—and I take that as a compliment!

My all-time favorite fragrance is lavender. And it is so soothing. I have a few lavender plants that come back each spring…and I find their scent to be heavenly!

I’m obsessed with scents. I love candles, oils the smell of cookies baking - whatever makes me think of home or makes me just feel happy.
One of my absolute fave things is fresh, clean sheets and blankets. To keep my bed smelling fresh longer, I stick dryer sheets inside my pillowcase. Both used and nonused work great. I really like Downy Simple Pleasures Lavender Serenity Sheets — oh, heavenly. =)
