Cupcakes and Cashmere

San Francisco Summer

August 5th, 2010

Even though I had ample warning about the arctic San Francisco weather, nothing could have prepared me for just how misty and cold it could be in August.  I spent the day as a faux tourist with my camera in tow and walked around Union Square, bought my favorite bread at the Ferry Building (Acme), ate at my favorite Basque restaurant (Piperade) and then ended the day in Sausalito with coffee and a cookie (Cibo).  The mornings have been luxuriously lazy and the evenings are spent alternating between the fireplace and the hot tub.

I heart SF…but yes, even during summer time I pack my fall wardrobe, it’s freezing!!! Love the headband.

I have been California dreaming forever now! Even though I would love to get away from the freezing cold Canadian weather (I’m from the US and Egypt so surely not built for an eight month winter) California is just such a beautiful and stylish place to be! Hope you had a great time, and I am LOVING the hairband, saw similar ones at American Apparel. Looks great on you, and your smile is absoloutely infectious.

    Much love,
    Farrah.

Ooh, how about a close up of your necklace – it looks gorgeous!

P.S. your shots of San Francisco are beautiful too, but the necklace got me distracted =)

Yes, I apologize for our ridiculous summer! And isn’t Acme bread just the greatest? I have the good fortune of living blocks away from the flagship Acme Bakery in Berkeley. I eat no other bread, except the kind I bake myself! I love your photos. It’s nice to see my home from a different perspective.

San Francisco is almost always coldl! Unless you’re in the Mission district, or it’s a rare summer day. It was made for redwood forests, so the mist and cold will prevail. I find it amazing that SF has remained linked with “sunny California” in the minds of most everyone, but you’ll be frozen out of that idea right quick upon your first chilly visit! Bring layers and you’re armed for the Bay. Nice photos, thanks for sharing.
