Rice Krispies Treats

January 17th, 2012

This past weekend we had a few friends over to watch the Golden Globes (and of course, to indulge in some fun treats). We plowed through a massive cheese platter, drank blood orange mimosas, and ended with a slightly more dignified version of one of my favorite childhood desserts. I made this recipe, which calls for browned butter and a bit of sea salt, and it added such a nice depth to an already near-perfect combination. And so our party didn’t feel too reminiscent of a bake sale, I wrapped up each square in a bit of parchment paper tied with twine and lined them up on a tray for easy access.

  7. I was recently craving rice krispy treats, but found myself without cereal. In a bit of desperation and creativity I used air-popped popcorn in place of rice krispies. Add a touch of toasted coconut and my craving was happily satisfied.

  8. These look delicious! My best friend’s Mum makes these all the time haha, so I’ll have to give this recipe a try and see if they’re better than hers!

  36. I just made these for a girls night tomorrow evening. I sampled a bit left in the kettle a few minutes ago. It is really good. Didn’t think you could improve on Rice Krispie Treats but these are a bit more elevated. I like the parchment idea too and may have to give it a try.
