Quirks
Yesterday someone informed me that I was one of the quirkiest people they’d ever met. [Insert awkward pause here] I didn’t know exactly how I should respond, but upon further thought, I realized it’s the little things that make a person who they are. Here are some of the things about me that might be considered a bit different:
I hate being touched with wet hands.
I prefer my soda/sparking water to be kind of flat.
I still jump in puddles (in these of course).
I like having things lined up at 90° angles.
I talk gibberish if I’m awakened from a deep sleep.
I don’t like drinking milk with anything other than dessert or peanut butter.
I’m horrible at understanding lyrics and often make up my own words to songs.
I crave sweets throughout the whole day.
I get hiccups if I laugh too much.
I despise when movie characters talk directly to the camera.*
*I make an exception for Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, but still cringe when I watch the first two seasons of “Sex and the City.”
What are some of your quirks?

I loathe/fear/want-to-vomit-when-I-see slugs and worms. They’re disgusting.
But I love snakes. (Hubby finds that odd)
That’s all I’ve got right now.
Hahaha, my boyfriend HATES it when I go near him with slightly wet hands.
I sleep with my eyes open (sometimes.) My boyfriend loves to take pictures and show me after I wake up. I freaked out one of my old college roommates with this quirk haha.
I also make musical noises during awkward silences, like “doo-ba-doo-ba-doo…” That’s definitely weird of me..
I can’t use a blue pen to write with , it just looks too ugly.
I love tomato flavoured things and things made from tomatoes but I can’t eat a raw one. The texture makes me want to throw up.
I can’t leave the house without a pair of earrings.
I’m horrible at understanding lyrics too! I thought that the song “Sex bomb” by Tom Jones was in fact “James Bond”, so I sang all day long “James Bond, James Bond, you’re my James Bond…”
OMG, Em, I am SO with you on the SATC episodes where Carrie starts talking to me out of nowhere! It is so annoying. Not to mention that Miranda looks like a construction worker in the majority of those episodes. Blech! You are too cute with your little quirks. I’ve got lots, believe me. For instance, I put cottage cheese on my spaghetti w/sauce.
Hahahah you’re so right about satc!!
Love that picture!!
Hey, is that photo from dooce.com? I thought I recognized it!! But seriously, quirks are what makes each of us interesting and worth getting to know; I love that you’ve shared some of yours!
im afraid of poultry. well live poultry. chicken creep me out lol.
absolutely right about satc.
i also prefer straight lines and 90deg angles.
i do not get along with women in authority positions.
socks slipping down is one of the most uncomfortable things in the world (to me).
I eat everything separately. For example: 1. meat 2. french fries 3. salad
Oh, by the way, I’ll have the salad without dressing, please.
I don’t know… I guess I’ll start asking around. I do think that quirks are cool and make you who you are. I’d say being called quirky is a compliment of sorts… Opposite of boring or ordinary or hohum. Good on your for running with it!
That’s a hilarious comment about Sex and the City and Ferris Bueller. Completely accurate.
You sound normal to me. I have some of the same “quirks”. I definitely make up lyrics when I don’t know the words.
Er.. other quirks? I like popcorn flavoured items, but not popcorn itself.
I am very strange about naming files correctly at work. If it isn’t named properly, then I freak out on people LOL
I’m sure I have plenty, but one my friends always tease me about is that I won’t eat mac ‘n cheese without peas. It’s not even half as good! Also, if I wake up in the middle of the night, I have to brush my teeth before falling back asleep. I have similar milk-drinking quirks, too.
i don’t like using bowls, only big coffee cups (for things such as soup, cereal, ice cream). also, i like to pull all the cheese off my pizza and eat it and then eat the rest separate.
wet hands freak me out too, so do wet faces. for example my fiance tried to give me a kiss after he washed his face and didn’t dry it off…i literally jumped out of bed and ran away from him, lol.
another quirk that i have is that all the room doors in my house have to be closed. if there’s an open door anywhere i have to close it
I hate cotton balls and refuse to touch them.
Hahaha! I agree with the Sex in the City episodes. I don’t like that either (but for some reason Ferris Bueller is the exception).
Being unique is the best!
I think it’s so funny that you talk in tongues when you wake up! I tend to have a lot of quirks, the most predominant being my (gross) habit of grabbing elbow flab (you know, that area of skin that gathers when an arm is outstretched?) when I’m distracted. Thankfully, I only do that with close friends and family.
I was so happy when they did away with Carrie’s straight talking scenes. Luckily, it also corresponded with a better dye job.
I’m very particular about my silverware. The wrong fork or too big a spoon can ruin a meal!
My boyfriend and I have been needing to buy new cutlery for a long time but he’s really fussy about the weight and quality of the utensils. Me? I have a thing about the spoons. I love a big round soup spoon and want to use them for any spoon use. We still haven’t bought cutlery. We can’t find a happy compromise. People find this strange.
Oh and I hate it when dirt gets stuck to my feet. I wear flip flops or slippers all the time. I don’t like dirty hands either. I wash them a lot.
omg. i totally cringe at those first episodes of sex&the city. so akward!
I prefer to eat ice cream with a fork. I really think it is a far superior utensil for ice cream eating. It makes it easier to scoop out the ice cream when it is super cold plus this raking technique I’ve developed helps me dig out the cookie dough chunks…
We all have our quirks. If we didn’t, we’d be completely boring. For instance, I don’t eat condiments (BBQ sauce is the exception), I tap my chin like I’m deep in thought whenever I’m nervous, and I hold water in my mouth before swallowing it (that last one is kinda gross…). I say, the more quirks the better!
That’s so funny, how in that first season of SATC they look at the camera- it is beyond annoying!
My quirks range from I hate the feeling of chalk, I cannot stand inconsistent noises and when people cough and don’t cover their mouths(!) and I email myself reminders from my BlackBerry.
~When I drink hot tea I don’t like anything added to it…but when I drink iced tea it must have sugar in it.
~I hate it when my belly button is touched.
~I like drinking soda warm.
~If I use a straw I always chew on it…
~When I get hiccups they will last at least 30 minutes or so.
I love this post..your quirks are so funny. I still jump in puddles too..i’m sucha child! Thats so strange that u have a thing about carries naration in satc thats one of the main things I love about the show..anywaaays heres a few of my quirks:
-Im really picky about table manners. I can’t stand when people don’t know how to use their knife and fork. I call them the “pencil holders”. It really irritates me when I see it in a restaurant.
- Extremely picky about silverware and cutlery too..my food never tastes the same if I’m eating on a disgusting plate or I’m using a cheap knife and fork..eeeeewww.
- I can’t sleep in an unmade bed.
- I hate showers I only ever have baths.
- I get nervous in houses that don’t have any books on the shelves or paintings on the wall..I especially hate white walls they give me the total creeps.
- I can only live in old houses..I moved into a modern apartment last year and only lasted two months I found it so depressing.
I have soo many more but I feel I should stop there or this comment will go on forever!xxx
first of all, amen to the slightly flat soda! and to being creating with certain words when singing songs! =) well…i LOVE tomatoes, and can eat one like an apple
… i put chapstick on my lips about every 30 minutes (i need to break that habit) …and i’ve never been full after eating ANY amount of icecream (my stomach is an endless pit for that stuff. haha)
1. I love cold spaggetti
2. I can say the alphabet backwards
3. I hate hearing the sound of an alarm going off in a movie or on TV
4. I watch movies before I read the books
What fun!
1. I adore the burnt edges of cheesy foods
2. I must sleep with the covers pulled up over my shoulders. Otherwise? There will be no sleeping.
3. I absolutely love putting new purchases in my closet. Perhaps even more than shopping.
I think quirky is a fab thing to be! A couple of things from me 1. I never have condiments, something about them freaks me out. 2. I hate the feel of cotton wool. x
I completely agree with the first 2 season of satc! And will agree with Sal I love burnt cheese on pizza or anything w/ a cheese coating! All the kids in school always looked at me crazy when I would request the burnt corner end of the pizza that day at school. Quirky is definitely a compliment in my book. I will have to think of things that make me quirky – one that comes to mind that my boyfriend ALWAYS teases me about and gets grossed out about is that I will drink milk with just about ANYTHING [pizza, spaghetti, peanut butter, cookies, anything – and it MUST, MUST have ice in it! My milk has to be ICE COLD or I think it’s gross/spoiled tasting. Strange I know. Lastly… Peanut Butter & Jelly goes amazingly well with Cool Ranch Doritos, I literally crave this at times, and no I’m not pregnant nor have I ever been.
SATC–so true and so glad that only lasted so long. As for my quirks:
1. I like hot coffee, but cannot drink it until it is lukewarm.
2. Everything(pictures, books, perfumes, etc.)is lined up at 90 degree angles. I love it that you do that too.
3. Wet hands creep me out, severely.
4. I must have all my jeans hung up by designer.
Your quirks are so funny, thanks for sharing.
What a fun idea. I would have to say a couple of my quirks would be:
1. I don’t like people to touch me or especially my face. Don’t get me wrong, I live hugs from friends…but most of the time I just don’t like the unnecessay stuff. I am a bit of a germaphobe.
2. When I get emails from other people I edit what they have written, change the mistakes and send the email back with my new email attached. Lol -> Bad I know!!!
3. I don’t eat popcorn at movies because I once did that when I was little and got a kernel stuck in my tooth and it ruined the whole movie.
4. I always drive with my seatbelt under my arm. I realized that I got in this bad habit and don’t even realize that I do it anymore.
5. When I see really green grass that is perfectly cut, I always have to touch it.
Oooo such a good topic.. and so many different quirks!!
Mine are:
-I have to..HAVE TO have all of my bills face the same direction and right side up and in order (I take forever at the register)
-I always sneeze twice
-If I touch the power button on the remote control I have to touch the other buttons across from it.
-I always want my last bite of my meal to be perfect. For example, with sushi, I save the best looking piece for last and always leave enough ginger and wasabi for that perfect bite.
Haha you and I have some of the same quirks! I guess I don’t remember Carrie talking to the camera? Now, I have to see it.
Some of my quirkiest behaviors are:
I have to taste everything, (ex. concrete, chapstick, lotion, candles) so I can smell it. Weird?
I like everything to be in neat piles according to shape.
I love to touch things like melted wax, slimy stuff, and gummy bears.
I forget things easily, even midconversation.
I totally agree about Sex and the City. It was so annoying when Carrie would talk to the camera. Actually, the first season was definitely not as good as the others.
Is that Chuck?
what a cute photo!!! i sleep diagonally, am scared of elevators, don’t drink coffee and am OBSESSED with milk! i order it at cafes and they never know what to charge
thank go for people being weird!
- can’t stand having my neck touched…i even go so far as to cut all the tags out of my clothes.
- i don’t like tomato sauce but i love raw tomatoes.
- i hate bread..but like crunchy crackers.
- i eat almost everything out of a bowl if i can help it…chasing food around a plate is no good.
- if i pass by a Goodwill or Salvation Army store i have to go in or i will obsess about the great finds i missed out on.
we are all quirky. i am sure the someone who said that has their own quirks.
i am hypersensitive to smells and hate the smell of a mildew on a rag/sponge. i also hate the smell of strong soaps in public bathrooms.
i am a movie savant.
my stomach growls loudly and embarrasses me often.
I like your quirks…someone once told me I was quirky and spunky…and I was like, “I’ll take it!” lol!
-I only eat sandwiches if they are cut in four pieces
-I like the smell of gasoline
-I only drink coffee if I have water to drink with it too
-I will write something I already did that day down on my to do list just so that I can go ahead a cross it off.
I love it! I actually wrote a newspaper column on this very topic a few months ago. People are always saying how quirky I am..I love it!
-I am a bit of a germaphobe too, so
1. I don’t like people I don’t know well (or at all) touching me or getting too close to me.
2. I can’t stand communal candy jars or people touching my food. All I can think of is the number of germs all over the food afterward. It grosses me out completely.
-When I eat things like M&Ms or skittles, I have to arrange them in rainbow order in straight, verticle lines. Then I eat them in the order of how much I like that color or flavor until the number of all the colors is the same. Then I continue on, incorporating the other color I wasn’t eating before. With M&Ms I always eat the blue ones first. I hate those ones. The orange ones are my favorite, so the last color I eat is always orange.
Here’s one of my biggest quirks (at least my friends and family seem to think so!) I can’t stand the sight of runny eggs, right after they’ve been cracked. I’ve never made scrambled eggs because of this and you can imagine that baking is quite a challenge-sometimes I’ll have someone else crack the eggs and stir them in before I continue baking!
I soooo agree about the first seasons of Sex and the City! How annoying is it? But I’m always too afraid to say that because I feel like some gang of girls will come and drag me away to some horrible doom if I say anything bad about the show.
Oh I love your blog! As I’m sure all your readers do, being new I’m still trying to play catch up on all the amazing blogs.
I’m so with you on the wet hands – especially if I don’t know *why* they’re wet. And also on the lyrics…then my version gets stuck in my head – then in other’s heads that’s the best!
quirks are cute.
and I wonder why the directors/producers/”people” decided to do the talk to the camera thing in the first couple season of SATC, but not the later? It was of course a good decision, but still interesting…
i HATE open closet/cabinet doors.
i love the smell of library books.
i don’t like for my toe/nail polish to match.
Someone once told me that I was as quirky as Grace Adler. I took it as a direct compliment & immediately embraced it! I have far too many. I think I am pretty much more quirky than I am “normal” but this makes me happy.
Love this post and actually love the word quirky, I think it’s a compliment! I too am terrible with music, I can never tell you what the name of a song is or who sings it, but I can recite every word. I hate eating from plastic containers or utensils, I always put takeout in china. And I love lining things up straight, my stapler gets a dose daily.
LOL I think I have too many quirks to list, to be honest.
But here is just some off the top of my head:
- Hate it when someone orders the same dish as me at a restaurant…I will actually order something else when that happens, I’m getting better though!
-I try to eat things – such as salad – evenly with each bite…like on my fork I must get salad, the dressing, the nuts a peice of tomato, etc. Can be difficult!
-Aside from my bf and parents, I don’t really like hugging people. I’ll do it, but very lightly and for a quick second. Not sure why. I like to hug animals though!!
And then there are a million fashion quirks I have, but I just did a post on that awhile ago
OMG! i cringe when actors break the fourth wall too!! i HATE that about the first few seasons of SATC and i was so relieved when Carrie stopped! (however, i also love ferris bueller’s day off… one of my favorite movies)
also, if my hands or feet are wet i cannot touch anybody else wet hands or feet. so i can relate to that.
my weirdest quirk is probably that i tuck my pajama bottoms into my socks at night because i HATE when my pants end up around my knees…
my fiance loves that quirk.
erin
I have too many to list….I have so many quirks too! I’m right with you on the milk!
I totally agree with you on Sex and the City! It really bothered me when Carrie would walk over and start talking to the camera. God.
nothingbutapackofcards.blogspot.com
i think my biggest quirk is that i like to get ready for bed in stages. i’ll brush my teeth .. go do something else .. floss .. something else .. wash face .. and so on. it drives my boyfriend crazy!
oh boy, do i have several! a few of my biggies:
-i cant stand for the radio/tv volume to be on an uneven # – no idea where this came from!
-i HATE it when someone sits on the edge of a blanket/comforter when i am underneath it – i feel trapped!
-i eat all around the edges of something, saving the middle (or ‘perfect bite’) for last!
Haha, love those quirks. My #1 quirk would have to be that I must turn on the fan or open windows when I take a shower. I hate stepping out of a hot shower into a steamy room. If the bathroom is steamy, I will 100% run out to another room to dry myself off.
I share this same one:
“I don’t like drinking milk with anything other than dessert or peanut butter.”
lol…from one quirky gal to another…
this list is admittedly much longer but…
1. the dishwasher must be stacked in a certain way (ie. the right way)
2. I only like to drink water out of tall glasses
3. I only like to drink juice out of small ones
4. I shake out every article of clothing that I take out of the washer before I put in the dryer
5. when I have ice cream out of a round container I like to make circles with my spoon until I get a perfect ice cream ball.
6. I don’t like to sit on a made bed..I like to see the blankets nice and taut
7. speaking of beds, I only like to get in a made bed
I’m totally with you on the SATC comment, it bugs me too.
*some of my quirks:
1. If I forget to use fabric softer I do that load all over again.
2. I can only eat rasins/almonds…etc, in even numbers.
3. My clothes have to be lined up by color and sleve length(if there’s a sleeve).
4. I can’t eat food that’s supposed to be crunchy but isn’t.
5. Like you I make up lyrics to songs, it amuzes my BF to no end.
I love your site and your style. Also, go Chuck!
I hate it when someone sits next to me in a movie theatre when there are tons of open seats. If they pull out a bag of popcorn – I want to kill myself over the sounds.
I like ice cream when it is good and melted.
Everything about mushrooms freaks me out – and I’ve never even had one.
I cannot sleep in a room without a ceiling fan.
I can only eat eggs if they are scrambled and burnt. If they run – so will I.
Love your quirky list!
I can’t stand socks on my feet – especially when I sleep.
The sound of someone chewing gum drives me bonkers!
And I don’t like when people do not pick up their feet when walking but instead choose to ’scoot/drag’ them.
I don’t like my food to touch on my plate.
I eat my least favorite thing on my plate first and save my favorite for last.
Love your quirks! They’re what make you, well, you!
My list of quirks is ENDLESS. I love to clean my ears with q-tips (it’s like scratching your brain!) and I also love to replace song lyrics, but i usually go with something about kittens and puppies…
I also:
“prefer my soda/sparking water to be kind of flat.
don’t like drinking milk with anything other than dessert or peanut butter.
get hiccups if I laugh too much.
despise when movie characters talk directly to the camera.*
*I make an exception for Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, but still cringe when I watch the first two seasons of ‘Sex and the City.’”
Kindred spirits I guess! I have many more as well.
That’s so funny! I make up words to songs all the time, my husband HATES it!
Cheesy potato dishes. I understand that for most people that might be the world’s most perfect food combination. However, I cringe. Also the retched noise and snow that expels from the television when the cable goes out, that’s just awful.
haha I hate when actors talk to the camera, too! i also hate it if my socks get wet. and I can’t stand if somebody touches my nails..
I love flat soda too! Also, I adore the photo. Can I use it for my blog?
I think it’s perfectly normal to have quirks. I don’t know if I’d openly tell someone they were “quirky” though. Hehe. That’s funny that you like your soda and sparkling water to be a little flat. I’m kind of the same way.
I love your quirks!! Quirks are what make us different and endearing!
1. When I sleep, I need to have my entire body under covers, but one leg sticking out..so I get the balance of the temperature
2. I hate looking at feet..especially ones with chipped nail polish or uneven nail lengths…no one can touch me with their feet…not even my boyfriend. I get really grossed out.
3. I can’t stand the taste of cilantro. I always make sure when I order at restaurants, they don’t have cilantro in their dishes–except for Mexican food. I can only eat it if it’s in Mexican food!
xoxo,
Victoria

Aw I love this post! I really enjoyed reading your quirks as well as everyone else that has posted. Here is my contribution .. I hope you guys don’t find me TOO strange haha
1. I smell my beauty products often.
2. I can’t eat anything without ripping it apart first.
If I can’t rip it, I cut it into pieces. For instance, I can never just bite into a burger & I rip my fries in half. If I have to bite into something, I feel kinda weird.
3. I make an insane amount of lists.
4. I tend to only sleep on the right side of the bed.
5. I HAVE to eat ice cream with a cake cone.
6. After washing my hands in a public bathroom that doesn’t have paper towels, I wait until another person exits the bathroom so I can follow them and not have to touch the door.
(germaphobe, much?)
7. When swimming in the ocean, I tend to swim behind groups of people. Just in case a shark happens to come our way, I have a better chance of escaping. I probably wouldn’t be too successful though, because I’m not a great swimmer.
i love reading everyone’s comments!! but that’s not a quirk.
let’s see, i think my main one is i carry on conversations with myself. i’ll be shopping and say (out loud) something to the effect of, “These orange cage heels are incredible! … Yeah but what would you wear them with? … I can make them work, just you watch!”
Ha ha, so cute! I’m the same way with song lyrics. For years I thought Steve Winwood’s song “Higher Love” was actually “Pie of Love”. Definitely embrace the quirks, darling!
Your quirks are quite adorable. As for mine:
It freaks me out when someone is touching me without my permission.
When I eat fruit loops, my loops have to be the same color on my spoon.
I will only use Pantene shampoo/conditioner, for I adore the way the products smell.
I eat french fries by two’s. I feel like if I eat just one, then that french fry died alone. With two, they had someone by their side. (I know, that’s really odd.)
When I was younger, I tied my left shoe first, then my right.
The ocean scares me to death.
I have many more, but I felt my list was already too long.
-i like using itty-bitty spoons for almost anything
-i hate pepper, but i like salt & pepper mix…hmmm???
-i crave sweets allll day too & eat about 3 desserts a day (and i lose weight this way because i eat less real food haha)
-i love real blueberries in muffins & etc. & love blueberry flavored anything, but blueberries themselves don’t appeal to me
-i looove fruit but i never eat it because i think i don’t like it even though i know i do…confusing haha
-a clean shaven face on a man is a turrrrn off!
-i HATE HATE having something that someone else has, i choose to shop at thrift stores to avoid this…i always do things before its “in style” & then when it becomes in style, i have to let it go
i think we’re all a lil’ weird haha
I have the same flat soda quirk – I have even gone as far as shaking a new bottle of sprite until it’s semi-flat before taking a sip.
I burp like a man…sometimes louder…Some of my friends think it’s amusing, but I’m sure more people think it’s just plain gross (this might be why I like flat soda – less burping!).
I will use random objects as nail files (seat belt, jeans, side of the couch, etc.) rather than just using a nail file.
Great post – I love reading everyone’s quirks!
So wait, you don’t like when Zach Morris does a time out and talks into the camera?
I hate when people say back handed compliments. I never know how to respond.
I’m the exact same way with milk. I must have it with pb and j sandwiches and any kind of chocolate!
wow each and every one of those things is me. creeepppyy
i love this post! i totally crave sweets constantly too!
i fear certain words when i hear them. the worst is ‘pendulum’- it just sounds so dark and ominous. i’m ok if i read it.
i also need to eat skittles in threes. if i share, they are only offered in multiples of three. and if there is an extra at the end of my bag i have to give it away.
every other quirk is a symptom of the OCD. lol.
*I can’t stand the sound of bananas being chewed.
*It terrifies me when people crack their knuckles or neck.
*I never bite into burgers, I always rip pieces off and eat them.
*I feel naked without my watch.
i love that picture of Chuck
those are such adorable quirks!
ah, i too have an insatiable hunger for sweets.
I’m the same way with 90 degree angles. Especially on my desk at work. My co-workers think i’m crazy.
Your quirks make you special! At least that’s what I told myself
I hate being touced with wet hands too!
awww haha.
I cnat think of any now.

I totally agree with the talking to the camera thing. Watching early episodes of sex and the city makes me kinda uncomfortable, and not just because carrie’s hair looks terrible!
That picture makes me want to laugh – it’s really too cute. I wonder if I put spaghetti on my cats’ faces if they would have the same happy reaction.
I get obsessed with good food. If I have really good tacos, salsa and chips or some other kind of really tasty meal, I’ll want to eat it and only it for weeks. It’s a sickness – an enjoyable one.
Movies on TV : There are certain movies – Sleepless in Seattle, Jurassic Park, Pride & Prejudice, Bridget Jones – that I’ll stop and watch on tv, even though I own them on dvd. Then I’ll proceed to watch that specific movie for several days. I’ll pop in the dvd before bed or while I’m reading. Sometimes, I just watch certain scenes or have it on as background noise. It is odd but enjoyable. =)
If I put clean sheets on my bed at night, I have to make the bed perfectly – even if I’m going to bed right after I make it. =)
I love a natural breeze but hate air conditioning blowing on me directly.
I eat bananas with a fork and a knife.
I do not make my bed in the morning, yet I cannot get into bed without it being made.
I really hate blueberries and cantaloupe. Like, madly deeply passionately violently hate them. But I love fruit! (Normal fruit that doesn’t taste like GROSS, the definition.)
The sound of pencils on paper makes my teeth hurt. Holy cow I can hardly type this. Ooooh, achy teeth.
When someone walks by me, my instinct is to inhale…through my nose…and smell them. I make a lot of judgments about someone based on scent. So take a shower, people!
No one smells better than my 11 month old baby. There’s something about J&J shampoo, ginger snaps & formula…mmmmm….
Oh yeah. And I’m obsessed with chocolate milk.
See? You ain’t the only one!
1. I am addicted to my neutrogena lip blam and apply it every 20 mins – I absolutely have to have it – even when I moved to the U.K and they didn’t have exactly the same kind, I shipped it over.
2. I put on shoes on the right feet first, always.
3. I like whoever I am with to be on my left. Walking, in bed, at the movies, always on my left.
4. Pictures of crescent moons with faces scare me – if they talk as well I completely have to run and hide away from it.
5. It drives me mad to hear the sound of someone flicking their nails or cutting them – it drives me crazy!
6. If something unhappy or bad happened the first time I wear a new outfit I never wear it again because it’s obviously a bad luck getup – very expensive superstition but hey I can’t risk these things!
100% correct about SATC.
- I moisturize my hands every 30minutes, and then apply lipbalm.
- I hold my breath when walking past people in shops.
- It makes me feel sick if i or anyone touches my belly button.
- I won’t eat meat anywhere apart from home.
- I have to have a bottle water with me all of the time.
lol, I’m a S1/S2 SATC cringer too
and can’t stand loud people on cell phones or slow drivers. Argh!!!
x
Hmm. I get, “You are the quirkiest person I know” an awful lot. Take it as a compliment, smile, and thank the other person.
As for describing my quirks, I don’t know where to begin…
this is such a cute idea! i would say some of my quirks are:
1) i HAVE to wash my face before i go to bed or i wony be able to sleep…. its like a ocd thing.
2) ill only drink milk if theres ice in it
3)i always sneeze 3 times in a row
4) once i get home i always take my shoes off…. it feels weird to me to walk around my own house in shoes
5) i absolutly despise cucumbers and tomatoes.. the smell and everything
6) i love rasberry flavored yogert, icecream etc.. but hate actual rasberries
thats all i can think of for now
I get totally freaked out when my husband uses my towel after showering. It is so disgusting. I can share toothbrushes and drinking glasses but never towels… never!
- I can’t sleep in long pyjamas, even in winter. I can’t stand how the pants always end up twisted round my knees.
- Bald heads really freak me out.
- I love winter. It makes me ridiculously happy to see white stuff falling from the sky.
- When I’m wearing gloves, I have to tuck the sleeves of the layer under my coat into them.
- I’m vegetarian and the smell of cooking meat knocks me sick.
- I can’t go to bed without my retainers. I don’t have to wear them any more, but I hate not doing.
- I hate answering the door when I’m home alone. If I see anyone walk past my house, I get really nervous that they’re going to come and knock on the door.
- Hairs not attached to someone’s head freak me out (you know when they get stuck to you in the shower? Ewww!)
Wow, I have a lot of strange little quirks! And there are more!
[...] or 3 Things, Bliss, Le Love (can’t help going here and smiling), listing quirks over at Cupcakes & Cashmere…(a quirk DH pointed out tonight while we rocked it in the basement gym–3 miles in 24:15 [...]
I don’t like anything round. I’m an artist and I will not design anything with round edges. I just hate circles! I also don’t like men with rounded features of any kind, like in the nose or chin.
im awkward at holding hands. i love awkward angles. i cant draw a straight line. when i eat a twix bar, i have to take off the side chocolate, then the top chocolate and caramel, and then the cookie. i also eat cheesecake by scraping it off on my fork, layer by layer, until i reach the graham cracker at the bottom. im addicted to gum. i like the number 72. i have a nose fetish. i also love hands. i collect hats. i kill plants. i save fish that are dying in walmart’s tanks. i sleep talk, sometimes in other languages. i love the smell of cigarettes, even though im an asthmatic. if im sitting at my desk, im almost always sitting indian style. i love periods (as in, the punctuation). i can only read at night. i randomely get claustrophobic and have to leave the house. i love socks, although i almost never wear them. i love hanging pictures upside-down or sideways, whatever way is incorrect. im way too literal of a person for math. i name inanimate objects. if i meet a guy and i cant remember his name, i call him oliver or bernard. strangely enough, i do not do this for girls i meet. im really good at naming things.
i know i have a million others, but thats about all i can think of for now
I have to do a 10,000 word essay, about anything, (fiction of course) and I need to find quirks for my protagonist. And since everyone else is doing one, I thought I’d do one too. Okay, here it goes.
1) I hate it when people (emails only) use numbers for words. For instance, 4= for, 2=too or to, etc.
2) I HATE typo’s in books.
3) Every time I watch a new movie, I have to watch it enough to memorize at least one full scene.
4) I love Italian food, most of which include tomato products, but I hate raw tomatos.
5) I don’t know if this is a quirk or not, but I hate mashed potatos. (Makes it really hard at Christmas and Thanksgiving)
6) When i’m alone, I read my favorite parts of books out loud.
That’s all I can think of! I’m sure there’s more, though. =)
This is one of the greatest post I’ve ever read! Ok, here we go:
I am terrified of cats and house flies. Kittens are worse than large cats
I iron and starch my sheets, and will not allow anyone in my bed unless they’ve bathed or showered
I have to have all labels facing the front
I will not go to the bathroom in a place where the paper end is coming under the roll..had to be over the top or I’ll just hold it
I cannot stand french pedicures
I love being engaged, and do it as often as possible, but can’t imagine actually going through with marriage. Maybe some day
Bad grammar, strange smells and bad shoes are deal breakers
I have a nose like a beagle and actually have an x I refer to as “Swingset-hands,” as his hands had a metalic/sweaty smell. Deal breaker, unfortunately.

I also get the hiccups if I laugh too hard!
Nothing wrong with being individual and cheeky…that’s what I think quirky means anyway.

Hmmm… my quirks…
-If I touch something by accident, I have to touch it with the opposite body part/side of my body which can be a bad thing when I’ve touched something hot/spiky.
-I seperate things whilst eating them, it takes forever for me to eat jaffa cakes…
-I have panic attacks when cooking about the food being cooked too fast/too slow/undercooked/too dark/too light. I’m drenched in sweat by the end of cooking sausages.
-I like to have a hot and cold drink at the same time.
-I eat frozen peas and dry spaghetti.
-If I’m away from home I talk to my cat/horses through the phone [during a converstaion with my mum] and have started to make my boyfriend do it.
-I use my feet to pick objects up off the floor… a lot…
-I still like making dens.
-I take photographs of everything because I have such a terrible memory and like to document my life.
-My computer is organised into about a million different files which are within files, which are within files, which are withi…
-I write in a microscopic size.
-I range between having days when I do nothing productive to days where I sort out my entire life in an hour.
-I’m so tidy that I’m messy, when I tidy my room it can take days because everything MUST have IT’S OWN SPECIAL PLACE.
-I hate wearing matching socks or unmatching underwear
-I like my fizzy drinks to be slightly flat and will shake them until they are [and my boyfriend hates his drinks to be even a little flat so it works well], also I quite enjoy if a can of fizzy drink has been left in the sun so it is hot but still fizzy – wierd burning/tingling/painful fizzy feeling as you drink it.
-I hate the sound of unglazed pottery being moved over other unglazed pottery [like if a pottery cup is turned in it's saucer].
-If my makeup goes on badly it ruins my whole day.
And that’s not even scraping the surface…
Sorry for attacking your comment space and I know this is a bit late but I’ve just come across your blog and so I’m now going through every article. [Is it even called an article? A section? You know what I mean]. Oh there’s another quirk – I prefer square brackets to normal ones – they just seem nicer.
